Day 17
Monday December 27, 2010

Today we started off with breakfast/lunch at the Main Street Station buffet. The lines were long to get in but never fear, a silver card and an Emerald card get you to the head of the line. Whoo hoo. We were seated in just a few minutes and had a table right near the buffet. This buffet doesn't change much but I had to laugh at one item which was a Turkey Pot Pie. Who ever labeled the foods must not have any clue because it was marked turkey Popeye. The foods here were good like they usually are except for the MSS Buffet standard Kahlua pork. It was a little on the wet and watery side today. I'm sure it was just a fluke though because it's usually very good.

After we ate we played a round of video poker and just got killed. Between us we dropped yet another $400 and about 30 minutes and didn't even hit a quad. These sessions are getting really painful to the bankroll. I can't recall ever having such bad runs and swings on video poker at the quarter level before.

We left Main Street Station in search of some better luck and stopped off at the Tuscany to do their gift card promotion. I thought the session at Main Street Station was bad but this one took the cake. I managed a few quads and Dee got one. Other than that the dealt winners and quads weren't hitting. Between us we ran 5k through the machines and dropped over $500 doing so. I'm seriously not yappy with the way video poker is running for us. We grabbed our $50 in gift cards and headed over to the Hard Rock. The main reason for stopping here were to see the expansion they did last year, to cash in some old chips duplicate chips that were in my collection, and see if any of the long time craps dealers were still there. We walked around for a few minutes and ran in to Elvis and talked to him for a bit. He was on days now but used to work swing. He told me they were ready for me but I declined. When he asked why, I said he had taken all of my money in the past and I didn't have anymore. He laughed and told us about some of the stuff going on there and then went off to break.

Next we headed over to the Orleans. First thing was to check into the hotel for the night. We aren't staying here but wanted a room to rest in during the day because we had tickets to the midnight hockey game tonight. We also had a reservation at 7pm for dinner at the Prime Rib Loft. I've wanted to eat here for a long time and just never got around to it. Since we had eaten prime rib a few times already this trip we did cancel that reservation a few days ago though.

I didn't have a comped room offer but I did have an offer for a $29 night with $15 in food and $15 in free play. I've also got over $900 in comps on my B-Connected Card so I was hoping to pay for the room offer with points at check out.

We checked in at the Emerald check in area. I'd never checked in here so it was something new to me. Things go a little faster here than they do at the regular check in. We were off to room 966 in just a minute. This room has a view of the pool and Palms with a king bed and nightstands on both sides, a dresser with TV, work desk with coffee maker and a small sitting area with a couch and coffee table. The bathroom is split into two rooms, one with the tub and toilet and the other with the vanity but they aren't separated by doors as the main door to the room is the only one. The closet is wide open space in the room with the vanity.

It was time for dinner now at the Courtyard Cafe. They had a meal deal special similar to what Fridays and Applebee's does. You choose a starter, entree, and dessert from a list of items and get a fountain soda all for $11.50. I had chicken noodle soup, chicken parmesan with spaghetti and chocolate cake. Dee got the minestrone soup, turkey club and carrot cake. The food was good but I thought the sauce on mine was a bit too much garlic and it had big tomato chunks which I hate. Overall the meal was good though.

After dinner we took a much needed break up in the room before the hockey game. We napped for about 2 hours to reenergize before the game because we knew it was going to be a late night.

We hit the casino to play for a bit after nap time. I couldn't find any decent video poker on the floor from the single lines to the multi-line games from quarters to dollars. We finally decided to sit at the bar to play a bit there where the pay tables are oddly better than they are on the floor. Dee hit a few quads playing for quarters and after a bit of a swing cashed out with a $40 win. I decided to take a shot at the dollar level hoping to hit a quad early on but that didn't happen. So far this trip I've played a few sessions at the dollar level and have still to hit a quad. I was in for 2 bills when I had a nice turn around though. I had back to back dealt flushes (where were they on the 10 plays this morning) and a few full houses in a short span and cashed out even.

Before the game I wanted to run my $15 in free play through the machines but it wasn't on my card so I had to go to the slot club to get it loaded. They loaded it on and I went back the machines but the game we were going to run it through wouldn't accept it so we just went to the game and planned to run it through afterwards.

Our seats for the game were purchased with comp dollars when we got to town back on the 11th. We were in section 101, row AA, seats 1 & 2. There were down in the corner right where the visiting team comes out but the sucked because there was lots of commotion in that area with security, photographers, and other people milling around. One of the ushers told us we could move to better seats so we did that (we were going to anyway). We moved a few rows up and over and got a better view of things. These games are usually fun because the players aren't nearly as good as NHL players and anything can happen. This game was no exception and was fun except for the silent farter in the row behind us. He was nasty and it had to be him because he was the only one anywhere near us. If you want to imagine it, thing about fresh shit, sewage and rotten eggs all rolled into one. Then think of something worse. The game was good but the Wranglers blew it in the last period and then gave up an empty net goal as well to lose 6-3. Everyone in the crowd did win a 6 piece chicken wing at Buffalo Wild Wings though because the Wranglers scored first. You just had to take your ticket stub to one the next day.

Before the game started and during each intermission we got the opportunity to be entertained by Mini Kiss. This is a midget band that does tribute to the real Kiss and you've seen them on TV in Dr. Pepper commercials. They pretty much sucked but it's entertaining to watch these little guys pretend they are Kiss.

The game ended right about 3am so we hit the casino real quick to run my free play through a penny slot. I was able to turn it into a whopping $6 but the time it was run through. We ran up to the room to grab our things and stopped at the front desk to check out and apply points to comp the room charges. The only problem was their computers were down and they couldn't do anything at that time. The guy at the desk said he's take care of it later on though. I'm not holding my breath for that to happen and fully expect the charges to be on my credit card bill when I get home.

We got back to Main Street Station at about 4am and went to the coffee shop over at the Cal for a late night meal. Dee got the 2's company and I got the open turkey. It was strange to see this place so dead tonight because it's usually packed with a long line waiting to get in. We got back to the room around 5am and hit the bed after a long day!

Total win/loss for the day -$900
Total comps for the day $225
