Day 18
Tuesday December 28, 2010

This is the last full day in town and I'm sad! We slept in a bit after the late night but not too late. I was up before Dee and got caught up on this report. That's where we are right now.

For breakfast/lunch we went to the Triple 7. I got the filet mignon sandwich and Dee got the Chicken Finger dinner. The foods were great as they always were and it was off to video poker. On the way to the machines we stopped by and saw bartender Brian. This will be the last time we get to see him because he's going to retire before we get back to town.

We chatted with Brian for a bit and then it was off to the video poker machines. Today we took a shot at the dollar level hoping for a nice run of quads to help the dwindling bankroll. Who would have thought that after hitting 6 royals the first week we were here that the bankroll would be hurting? We hit the 8/5 bonus machines with progressives over by the Boar Bar (not the Boar's Head bar as many call it - Boar's head is deli meat!!) I finally hit a quad at the dollar level for the first time this trip. Dee ended up losing and wanted to go back upstairs to lay down for a while. I stayed in the casino and continued to play. I was almost busted out on the dollar game when I caught some full houses and flushes to bring me back. Then it was up and down between $25 and $150 for a while before losing it all.

Next up I played some penny slots and did well for a while hitting some nice bonus rounds and a few bigger hits. Then the bonus rounds stopped and the big hits stopped (actually ALL of the hits stopped) and I lost and headed back to the room to wake up Dee. On the way I stopped at slot club and got our toys for the day and to Dee's surprise they had snowmen today. She was excited about that.

It was almost time to check in for tomorrow's flight so we went to the internet area downstairs and logged on. We got B boarding passes number 55 & 56.

We played more video poker at the $1 level and I finally hit a regular quad. Dee scored a set of aces that helped us out and for the session we won a few bucks for a change.

We went over to the California for dinner at the Market Street Cafe. I had the pork chop dinner and Dee has spaghetti again. We topped off dinner with blueberry pie and ice cream. The foods and service were good here as they have been the whole trip.

After dinner we played more video poker. Dee got dealt a straight flush and a hit a few quads but other than those wasn't hitting anything. She lost a few bills here and headed to bed. I continued to play and started doing well. I finally hit a quad and hit a bunch of full houses before moving to blackjack.

Things at blackjack were ok. At first they were slow going with me hovering around even for most of the session. Then things got a little tough before they turned around. Then the dealer started breaking every hand and when he didn't break I had her beat on points. It was rare I had to hit but most of the time when I did I made a hand and broke very few times. This was the fun part of blackjack I remember the most from the old days. I was up over $1000 before things started to turn bad so I got out with a $900 win.

It was still a little early so I decided I'd take a shot at the 10 play video poker hoping to get some action for my money. I scored a few quads right away getting ahead and having some ammo to play with. Then about 5 minutes into the session I got dealt a set of aces for a $1000 win and 10 scratch cards. I cashed out without playing another hand went to bed with a $1900 win for the evening. While it didn't pull us out of a hole for the trip it eased the pain quite a bit.

Total win/loss for the day $1300
Total comps for the day $134
