Day 4
Friday June 24, 1011

Today is our first moving day of the trip but not before one more comped meal on our silver card. This morning we hit the deli for breakfast/lunch before heading out. I had a Philly Cheese steak and Dee had a fruit cup.

I had to actually check out of Sam's because for some unknown reason all of the food charges were showing on the TV. The lady at the front desk took care of it in a few seconds and we were on our way.

We made a few stops for some more survival items and then to the Flamingo. I needed to get a listing of the free shows available for diamond card holders so next week we'd already know what was available. It was Friday afternoon on the Strip and this place was packed. I wasn't really looking forward to staying here next weekend for the holiday.

Now it was on to Main Street Station where we'd be staying for the next 4 nights. When we got here they had attendants at the parking garage and were charging $5 to park unless you were a hotel guest or had a B-Connected card. This seemed odd to me since the only other time I ever saw this was on New Years' Eve a few years ago.

The offer is for 4 complimentary nights and also comes with $75 in free play and the Hawaiian Package food coupon book but that got swapped out by a host for a silver card which covers food at all the non gourmet restaurants at the downtown Boyd properties. Checking in at Main Street Station was a breeze like it always is. When I checked in our room wasn't ready. When I booked the room I requested a high floor with a low odd number to stay away from the highway and train tracks. The girl told me to check back in about an hour.

Since we didn't have a place stay yet Dee played some video poker and I walked over to the 4 Queens to meet up with Yahtzee Mike. He's been banging away at the VP machines over there. I hadn't seen him since last summer so it was good to see him. We hung out for a bit and then headed back over to Main Street Station with a detour at Binion's so Mike could check his points. When we got back over here Dee had moved to penny slots because she got beat up at VP. She did hit 2 quads and got 2 scratch cards for $2 each. We chatted while she played she hit a nice bonus round that and some big hits that gave here a small win for the session.

I checked on the room again and it still wasn't ready even though it was now after 4pm. I'm starting to lose my patience with this place since every time we come here and a host blocks a room for us it's never ready and takes hours to be cleaned. I think if a room is blocked for a player it should be one of the first cleaned, or at the very least the front desk should notify housekeeping when that guest arrives and have them do that room next. This is at least the 3rd time in the last few trips this has happened and is unacceptable.

We decided to go over to the Cal and get something to eat at the Market Street Cafe, one of our favorite restaurants. There was no line at all so we were seated immediately. Dee ordered one of her favorites Spaghetti and meat sauce and I went with a giant bowl of Won Ton Min soup. It has noodles, wontons, pork, and those pink and white fishy things (that get flicked to the side). The food was decent and filled the void.

We went back over to Main Street to check in again the girl said the room still wasn't ready. I told her this was unacceptable and housekeeping had known for over 3 hours now that there was a guest waiting for that room. I asked her if she had anything available in a similar location and she pulled up a few options that we could choose from. Finally we were assigned room 1703 with a 2 queen beds, a nightstand, sitting table, arm chair, work desk, fridge, and armoire with TV. The bathroom is split into two rooms with the sink outside and the toilet and tub inside. They have done a couple of renovations in these rooms over the years but the bathrooms don't seem to ever get any attention and are getting pretty tired.

We got settled in and then I headed out to the Silverton to meet with friends Anne and Steve. Dee wasn't feeling well so stayed in tonight. We met at the Sundance Grill and this place was packed. They also have a new menu which usually means higher prices! Not being very hungry I just ordered some chicken fingers. They were pretty good and you can choose from a variety of different sauces to dip them in. The service in here was horrible tonight. Probably the worst I have ever seen in all my years coming here. We were there for an hour and a half before our food came out and it took forever to even get drinks. A couple at the table next to us that was there before I arrived never got their food. They finally tracked down their server and after a discussion they walked out. It really was that bad.

After a 2+ hour dinner at the cafe we played some video poker. I took a shot with some $1 action. I did well on the first bill but then it disappeared. I tried one more and scored a few quads and a bunch of full houses. Soon I had doubled up and kept plugging along. I hit a few dry spells and cashed out up $100. I moved to some 10-play action and did well there too. I scored a straight flush and a few quads including a few sets of fours. I cashed out here with a $105 win and headed to the slot club. They are doing a pull tab promo where if you earn 1k, 5k or 10k points you got a colored pull tab with prizes. I did just over 5k and scored $15 in free play. The guy at the booth told me I also had $100 on there already. I'm assuming it's from an offer I got for this promo that offered $100 in free play and 2 free nights. The offer said you had to be guest and since I had no plans on going there this trip I never double booked the deal. This was like a true bonus so I found some quarter video poker and ran the free play through cashing out $95 of the first $100 giving me a $300 win so far. I burned the next $15 in a penny slot for fun with no luck.

It was getting late so I headed back to Main Street Station. Between construction zones and accidents it took me close to an hour to get back here. It was after midnight now and when I got back Dee woke up and I told her of the day. We were excited to have a winning day, albeit a small one!

Total win/loss for the day $100
Total Comps for the day $354
