Day 8
Tuesday June 28, 2011

When we got up this morning we packed up the rest of our things and headed downstairs for one more comped meal on our silver card. We went to the Triple 7 and I had the filet mignon sandwich again and Dee had the cheeseburger and fries.

We checked out of Main Street Station and everything was in order. Not only is today moving day, it's also the day Cousins arrive (Rick and Wendy).

Our first stop was to the Flamingo to pick up some free show tickets with our diamond cards. Our first choice of Vinny was nixed when we were told he was on vacation and George Wallace was out too. We picked Human Nature for tomorrow night but now had to walk over to Imperial Palace to get the tickets. We got a booth on the side in the middle section.

Since it was early enough we went over to the Tropicana to play on their $200 reimbursement promotion. You could lose up to $200 and they'd refund the losses in the form of free play. Half was issued today and half the following month. Since we'll be here both months this will work out but even if we weren't it is still good for a year. We signed Dee up for the promotion and I got a card too. I didn't qualify for the promo because I had a card here in the past even though it has been about 10 years since I played here. Normally when I do a promo like this I take a shot with the initial money on something like dollar double-double bonus hoping to score a quad and a nice profit and forget about losing and the reimbursement. That's exactly how it worked out for Dee. About 5 minutes into play he was dealt trip 7's and scored hit the 4th one on the draw for a $250 hit and a $200 profit. We cashed out and got out of there.

We still had time before Rick and Wendy arrived so shot down to South Point. They were still doing the promo where if you got 200 points you got a spin on the virtual wheel. We both hit our 200 points and dropped $30 between us. For our spins we both won 2500 points or about $15 in cash or comps.

We went to the airport next to meet Rick and Wendy. They were scheduled to come in at 3:57PM and they arrived right on time. Their luggage came out right away and we were on the road.

We stopped off at the world Famous Gold and Silver Pawn Shop where they tape the show Pawn Stars. It was neat being in here but the place was packed so it was tough to look around. I only saw a few things on display that were ever on the show but that was ok. The place is actually pretty small but jammed with stuff!

We headed up to the Suncoast from the Pawn Shop where we'd be spending the next 2 nights. I reserved 2 rooms at casino rate through my casino host here. I used to stay here quite a bit but stopped playing here for quite some time. I accepted the casino rate for the rooms because I was sure we'd be comped or I would just use points to cover the rooms since I've plenty of points on my B-Connected card. The reason for staying here was just to stay somewhere different that had some good rooms and decent VP. When we arrived we checked our luggage with the bellman. There was a short line but we were able to check in quickly because I got to cut the line with my emerald card. When we did this I got a few glares from the people that were already in line but that’s too bad. I earned this status and before getting it, I used to have to watch people cut the line too. We were assigned room 955 & 957.

The rooms here are quite large with a 2 queen beds, a nightstand, work desk, table and 4 chairs, arm chair and ottoman, & flat screen TV. Since last time I was here they converted the old TV cabinet/dresser combo by putting an insert where the TV used to go that now houses a safe and fridge. There is also a nice golf course view and we can see the Rampart from here as well. The bathroom is huge and separated into 2 parts. The main vanity has double sinks and is quite spacious. The other room has the toilet and tub.

Once we were all settled into the rooms we went to the buffet for dinner. I was surprised that it was prime time for dinner but there was no line at all. I got a discount for having a card and for being a hotel guest I got a card that offered buy one get one 50% so the 4 buffets in total came to about $50. I charged them to the room hoping to get the comped or to just use points at the end of the stay.

Rick and Wendy were beat so they called it a night but me and Dee hit the casino for some more VP. We actually struggled to find anything playable which kind of threw me. We finally did find some 8/5 bonus but most of the machines I checked, even at the 50¢ & dollar level were 7/5. This was disappointing to me since I can get that kind of crap on the strip. We didn’t do very well on VP tonight and Dee lost $200 and I lost close to that. We didn't get very much play time for that money either. I don't think it's good to lose that much that quick on single line VP. We didn't lose that much playing triple play the last week. For some fun we played some penny games for a while with very little luck at all and called it quits at about midnight.

Total win/loss for the day - $250
Total Comps for the day $171
