Day 11

HAPPY CANADA DAY TO MY CANADIAN READERS!

Today it was back up to Vegas for the big 4th of July weekend. We started off by meeting up at the pool for a little sun and swim and then headed back to the rooms to get ready for breakfast. We went to the Aquarius Cafe. I got the griddle breakfast. That's 2 pancakes, 2 bacon, and 2 eggs. The food was pretty good and the service was fine.

We were ready to leave but walked over to the Riverside so Rick and Wendy could check out the Ringman and Watchman stores. From there it was over to the outlet mall for one last blast of shopping for them and then we were on the road.

We stopped in Henderson on the way back through to grab our laundry and then on to Sam's Town so Rick and Wendy could see Mystic Falls Park and take some pictures. Next up it was off to the Strip where we'd be spending the holiday weekend (are we effing crazy?)

We were all staying at the Flamingo on 2 separate room comps. One room was in Dee's name and one in mine. We checked in and were issued rooms 19042 which is a GO room and 10070. We gave Rick and Wendy the GO room and we took the regular room. The regular room has 2 queen beds with a nightstand, work table, TV cabinet/dresser, make up table and some chairs. It's got a view of the strip from City Center to the Mirage but it's obstructed by the window billboard of Donny & Marie that is plastered over the place. The bathroom is small with a bathtub, toilet and countertop. This room is pretty worn and the carpets are filthy. I'm not thrilled with it and it's kind of sad that the biggest player on the strip has rooms in condition this poor.

Once we were all settled into the rooms we hit the diamond lounge here at the Flamingo. While we were eating our server asked us if we were going to see any shows. She got a few answers and asked if any of us had seen Donny & Marie which we hadn't. She asked if we would like to because she had 4 tickets for the show tonight at 7:30pm. We took her up on them and finished up with our food to head to the show.

These seats were in the balcony ROW A, Seats 4-7 but we were seated in the lower level at a table in the next to last row. Personally I would have rather had those balcony seats. I thought the show was fair at best but then I've never been a fan of these 2 either. They did put on a good show and I'd guess that part of that has to do with performing together for almost 50 years.

After the show we packed it in even though it was early.

Total win/loss for the day $0
Total Comps for the day $755
