Day 2
Sunday July 29, 2012
Dee woke up at 2:30am and said she was going to start her day reading. I said eff that and went back to sleep. She eventually did as well and we both got up around 7am. We puttered around the room for a while and then I ran down to the Copper Cactus Grill to grab some pastries for breakfast. They did the trick and filled the bellies and then we finished getting ready.

Today's plan was to head out shopping to one of our favorite stores, Beall's Outlet. There are lots of them down here so we are going to make a day of it. It was strange but for the first time ever, after visiting 3 stores we didn't buy a single thing.

While we were out we had a favorite for lunch. It was two tacos at Jack in the Box. Yeah, they're crap, but they are good!

When we finished shopping we headed back to Harrah's. On the way the skies were not looking very good. There were huge rainstorms happening all around us but we never got hit by them. Off in the distance there was a brown cloud. This we ended up driving through and it was actually a haboob. It wasn't too bad and driving in it was about the same as driving through fog back home. We finally got through the haboob and then it started pouring rain. We got back to Harrah's just in time.

When we got to the room housekeeping had not cleaned the room and it was now 5pm. I called the front desk to complain. He asked if the do not disturb sign was out and I told him we left at 10am and pulled it off the door when we left. He proceeds to tell me they do room checks at 9am and if the sign is out they don't clean the room. Sounds like an excuse full of bullshit to me.

We left the room and hit the casino for the first time this trip. After registering for the Great Race to Rewards we played some penny and 2¢ slots with no luck. We didn't get killed but couldn't hit much of anything to keep us going.

To take a break from playing we hit the diamond lounge. Things are different here than in most. Here you get 4 drink tickets and an appetizer ticket. You order an appetizer off of a menu and it's enough to share for 2 people. We chose the veggie spring rolls. They were pretty good and filling. While we were there another storm came through and the power went out! This created a little havoc but it was well handled.

Once the power came back on we hit the casino again playing some more slot games and the low limit electronic roulette. I did well on the roulette game winning a few bucks but Dee lost. We took a break from gaming again and grabbed a bite to eat over at the Copper Cactus. They had an issue over there with the exhaust hoods from the power failure so only had a limited menu. I got nachos and Dee got a turkey club that turned out to be a turkey sandwich. They apparently couldn't toast bread either.

We hit the casino one last time with little luck although we did get to play for quite a while on our money. We came back to the room at midnight and wrapped up another day.

Total win/loss for the day -$250
Total Comps for the day $125
