Day 8
Saturday August 4, 2012
Today the day started with breakfast the Paradise Buffet over at the Fremont. This is one of Dee's favorites. I'm not really sure why though. Today was their brunch featuring all the standard breakfast items as well as a bunch of lunch items. They also had a section of peel and eat shrimp and crab claws. I thought the foods here were good today and the buffet was busy enough that the foods turned over quickly enough that they did not get dried out under the heat lamps.

We ran back up to the room to get ready for the rest of the day and take a short break when we were done eating. Soon after breakfast I got a call from Yahtzee Mike. He said he was downstairs at the craps table. Today is Yahtzee Mike's Annual Crapsfest. It's not so much the public event it used to be because we don't really post much on the message boards these days. In attendance were me, Mike, Dee, LV Norm and Debbie, a friend of Mike's. Mike and I were the only ones that actually played. I set Dee up on a triple play machine before I started playing craps. I should have set myself up at video poker too because the craps table was ice cold. Very few points made and very few rolls of the dice. It was actually one of the worst Crapsfest sessions ever. I lost $500 here and we went to find Dee at her machine.

She was still plugging away hovering around even. She hit a few quads along the way too. I jumped onto the machine next to her and had very little luck. I did hit 1 quad but dropped my bill quickly. I did take my shot at double-double and got dealt a full house so switched back over to bonus after that. The lack of luck continued and I lost it all. Dee continued to do well though and even hit a set of aces. When it was all over she cashed out even and had 5 scratch cards for $2 each. My scratch card was for a whopping $3.

From here we made plans with Norm to meet up with him later in the week and with Mike and Debbie to meet up tomorrow night. We had to go up to the room and pack an overnight bag because tonight we were moving to Sunset Station. They had Tears for Fear playing in the Amphitheater tonight and Dee wanted to see them. I actually got an e-mail offer from a host at Sunset offering 2 nights and 2 tickets so we took them up on it.

When we got to Sunset Station we were able to check right in. There were no lines at the front desk and everything went well. They also had out tickets there waiting for us. The seats were in Section 1 row F Seats 1 & 2 which was to the left of the stage. These seats normally go for about $65 each.

We were given room 1203 which is a handicap accessible. It had a king bed, nightstands, dresser/TV cabinet combo with 32" flat screen, and a table with 2 chairs. We've got a view of the pool to the left and the strip to the right. The bathroom is large and is a full wet room similar to the room we had at Harrah's Ak-Chin but smaller. To the left is a roll in shower with a shower chair. It has a standard vanity area and a handicap accessible toilet with bars around it.

We sat up in the room for a bit and then went down to the Grand Cafe for dinner. I had the Saturday Pork Chop Special. It was 2 breaded pork chops with mashed potatoes and gravy and vegetable medley. It also comes with soup or salad. I chose the chicken noodle. Dee got the Pasta Primavera and a side salad. I thought my meal was very good and Dee enjoyed hers too. To top it off Dee ordered a giant brownie sundae. I played it safe and had chocolate ice cream.

When we were done with dinner it was time to go to the concert. They were accommodating here and gave us the choice of going to our seats or going to the handicap area. We chose the handicap area which was right next to our seats any way but a little roomier.

A girl by the name of Corrine Rounds opened up for Tears for Fears and did 4 songs. Tears for Fears came out and started their show and people in the crowd became assholes. People from the cheap seats and general admission area came running forward into the aisles of the better seats, standing in the aisles and blocking people views and not giving a flying fuck about it. I was pretty disappointed that Sunset Station security allowed this and a little surprised at how many people think it's ok to do this. I spent most of the show looking at the backs of people's heads while they shot video of the show.

After the show we played some video poker. We found a few triple plays in quarters with 8/5 bonus. Things were good for me and I was hovering for quite a while. I score one hand where I drew to an inside straight flush and got the 4 of hearts on 2 of the 3 lines. I also hit quad 8's on 2 lines holding trips and got a set of aces. Dee’s session was a little streakier and she lost her first bill quickly. Her second one lasted longer and she eventually cashed out a ticket for $101.25 and I cashed out for $200 for a nice win of $1.25! This wasn't too bad considering how the session started off.

It was going towards midnight so we packed it in and headed to the room to go to bed.

Total win/loss for the day -$550
Total Comps for the day $353
