Day 12
Wednesday August 8, 2012
We slept in a bit today and started off with the lunch buffet here at Aliante Station. I paid today's balance with points from my boarding pass account in order to save our other 2 free buffets for dinner tomorrow when the price will be higher! With a few exceptions this buffet was identical to the lunch we had yesterday. It was good and filling and we hit the casino when we were done. For some fun we both started with $20 each to play penny slots. This is the limit we have on these now because even though they are fun, the last few trips we've gotten killed on them.

Today started out slow with me dropping $6 and Dee winning $5. We hopped around a bit and I got my ticket up over $20. On one game I was playing I had $22 and change left and hit max bet for $2 figuring I'd still be up if I lost this spin. Well I timed it right and scored a hit for 5100 coins. Dee cashed out her machine even.

We hopped around a little more and Dee hovered around even and my ticket was holding pretty steady. I got lucky again and scored a hit for 4200 coins on a 40 coin bet so my ticket was up over $100 now. Dee started dropping down a bit. We played a little longer and when we finally cashed out Dee had 11 cents left and I had just under $100 giving us about a $55 win.

Next up was a trip over to Target to grab a few more essentials and to break up the day a bit. I was about to head back here and Dee wanted to go for a drive just to be out and about. I suggested we run out to Utah, about an hour or so from where we were at the time. Neither of us had even been out there before and she jumped at the chance. It's a pretty nice drive on the way there and we stopped off quickly in Mesquite for gas. The next part of the drive from Mesquite to St. George is pretty interesting and scenic, especially going through the Virgin River Gorge. If you ever have a day to kill while you're out here I suggest the drive.

Once we got to St. Gorge we made a quick stop at a Maverick convenience store for "dinner" consisting of nothing but junk food like corn dogs, chips, snacks and soda. Dinner for 2 tonight wasn't comped but ran only $10 for the both of us!

The ride back was smooth sailing and we stopped at the Casa Blanca to use the facilities. While I was waiting for Dee I played some penny slots and got my ass kicked. In one of them I lost $10 and the only hit I got was for 5 coins. This is why we cut way down on these.

We rolled back into Aliante Station at about 9pm, dropped off our stuff in the room and then hit the casino.

Tonight we chose to play the 9/6 jacks or better machines again. Things weren't quite as good here tonight as they were yesterday but they weren’t terrible. Dee seemed to be getting beat up from the start and I was the one actually hovering. I watched Dee's meter go down all of the way to single digits before she hit a quad and some full houses and crept all of the way back into the 80's. While she was creeping up, I was falling back but a few quads (including aces, ugh!) and 6 full houses in about 20 hands had me back up again. After a little over an hour of play we quit with Dee down $75 and me down just $20 for less than a $100 loss for the session.

Dee was hungry again (don't ask me how after all of the crap we shoveled in earlier). About the only thing still open was Johnny Rockets so I got her a tuna sandwich and fries. I was still full so didn't get anything but I did sample a few fries to make sure they were safe for her to eat!

Total win/loss for the day -$50
Total Comps for the day $96
