Day 22
Saturday August 18, 2012
We slept in today and lounged around the room for a few hours. When we finally got motivated we hit the casino and some more video poker. I found the single line quarter 9/6 jacks or better in the front casino but those were occupied with people playing short pay nickels and keno. While we were up there we played a Davinci Diamonds penny slot for a while. We got quite a bit of play and had a few nice hits but lost a $10 bill.

For a snack we hit the diamond lounge. It wasn't as crowded as yesterday but the only food that was out was chips and dip. We heard someone ask about food and it was going to come out at 3pm. It was currently 10 of and I expected a mad dash to the food like these people hadn't eaten in a year once it came out. I was right! It always amazes me at how this happens in diamond lounges when the food first hits. Today's food offerings were the same as yesterday with exception of the hot dish being egg rolls today instead of chicken wings.

We went to the east casino after the snack and found the machines back there. We were lucky enough to find the quarter jack or better machines back here too and only 2 of them had nickel keno players on them. I often wonder why when a casino has so few quarter video poker games people are almost always playing keno on them when there are keno games all over the casino. I'm guessing since they are playing keno they have no idea about video poker and no idea that those are the only good games in the building for us video poker players.

This session started of well with lots of full houses and flushes for both of us. Dee popped a quad early on. We hovered in positive territory for the bulk of the session and if we were down it was only a few bucks. We both hit a few more quads and kept hitting full houses. By the time we were done Dee was up $60 and I was up $40 for a nice $100 win.

We took a break in the room or a while to rest up and take a break from the casino and then got ready for dinner. For dinner tonight we went over to the Gold 'n Silver Inn. This place was featured on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives and since it's right around the corner we decided to check it out. This place is a throw back to the 70's with the set up and decor. On the show one of the things they featured was lemonade pork chops and that's what I ordered. Dee ordered cheeseburger combo that came with fries and a milkshake. My meal came with soup (navy bean) and 2 sides. I chose mashed potatoes and gravy and fruit. Dee's food was good and mine was too. The lemonade pork chops have a sauce on them that starts out a bit sweet and tangy and then gives a small kick. The chops were moist and tender and the gravy on the mashed potatoes was one of the best I've ever had. They are proud here to make their soups, sauces and gravies from scratch and you can taste the difference. If we're in Reno again I'd come back here for another meal.

When we got back to Harrah's we came up to the room. Dee was beat so decided to go to bed and I went to the casino. I started off playing Gold Fish slot that I've seen people hitting on non stop while we've been here. I put a 10 in it and didn't hit much of anything, and didn't even hit a single bonus. That's par for the course with me when it comes to seeing people hitting on machines, and then getting a chance to play them.

Next I went down to Sammy's Casino and found some 3/5 play machines and took a shot with some 5 play. Things were good here and I was hitting quads including dealt 8's, fours with a kicker twice, deuces with a kicker twice, threes, and aces with a kicker twice. The only issue with this was, I was playing 9/5 jacks or better. I had the meter up and down the whole session and played on a single $100 bill running over 4k through the machine before the VP gods gobbled up my money.

I moved to a $1 9/6 jacks or better single line and had no luck at all. I hit nothing better than 2 straights and dropped $100 in no time at all. It was about midnight at this point so I gave up and came up here to the room to go to bed.

Total win/loss for the day -$100
Total Comps for the day $187
