Day 23
Sunday August 19, 2012
We got up this morning and had some in room coffee and donuts I picked up at the gift shop yesterday then we got ready for the day. I packed up the few things we took out and then we headed to the car and the drive to Lake Tahoe. Dee had never been here before and again it was 14 years since I have been here and we were both looking forward to it.

The ride was nice and a change of pace from places we usually drive while out here. We stopped in Carson City at Jack in the box for a few tacos to hold us over. We pulled into Harrah's where we were booked for the next 2 nights. I booked an executive king room with a view of the Lake. When we arrived the room was ready. I asked if they had any of these that were handicap accessible and they didn't. We were assigned room 1027. This room has a king bed, night stands, dresser, old tube TV, couch, coffee table and chairs, and a view of the Lake, Harvey's and California. The first bathroom has a glass shower, toilet and vanity. The second bathroom has a tub with sliding glass doors, toilet and vanity. The decor was looking a little old and dated and the room was pretty basic.

While we were sitting in the room I didn't think this was the room I had reserved and a quick look on the internet showed we had been given a deluxe king. I know with Harrah's when you're comped there's no guarantee of the room type you've booked but the website was showing they were selling these rooms for $150 a night. I went back to the diamond check in and spoke to the same girl that checked us in. She apologized and said the room we were given was pre assigned and there was no guarantee. I told her I could see if you were out of those rooms and she tried to tell me that they were pretty full tonight. I came back with the fact they weren't that full because they were selling the rooms on the website right now. She then looked in the system and said they had an executive king available. I was reassigned to room 1232.

I went back up to the room and gathered our things and moved them down to the new room. The quality of this room is night and day compared to the old room. This room has a king bed, nightstands, sectional sofa, sitting chair, extended work desk, and an old 32 inch tube TV and a wet bar area. The 2 bathrooms are identical to the other room.

Once we checked out the room we were off to the American River Cafe for dinner. Dee went with the fish and chips yet again. I had the hot open roast beef. Dee's food was excellent and mine was good, but the serving size was very weak compared to the price being charged.

After dinner it was on to the casino to play some video poker. We found some 8/5 bonus poker machines for quarters. We both started with $100 and plugged along. Dee was hovering as always. I was up as high as $110 and down as low as $55. A few full houses and a quad got me close again but I was still down. Dee was doing well on her machine and got dealt quad queens to pump her up a bit. We decided to take a break and we both cashed out with Dee up $20 and me down $20 for an even session.

After the break we returned to the casino for a little more video poker action. Harrah's was packed so we went across the street to Harvey's. We found some 8/5 bonus machines for quarters and sat down. We both hovered for a while before the bleed started. I scored quad aces for $100 but from there it was all downhill. I couldn't buy a hand after I hit those. I ended up cashing out the session even which I guess isn't too bad considering. Dee couldn't hit much of anything either and lost $100 without even hitting a single quad.

We moved machines and took a shot at half dollars for a change. Things were decent here and we both hovered for a bit. Dee started to get beat up pretty badly and was actually down to her last bet and scored a full house. A few flushes and a quad later and she was back into it. I scored a quad early on but then started getting beat up. I popped a few more quads and we started hovering again. We decided we'd quit when we were even for the day but then we both hit a bonus quad a few minutes apart and finished the session up by $300!

It had been over 8 hours now since we ate so we returned to the American River Cafe for a late night meal. We both got the chicken pot pie and Dee also ordered a side salad. I thought the pot pie was good with exception of the chicken being dry. I'm not sure how this happens when it's in a sauce but Dee agreed. We finished off by sharing a slice of chocolate cake and ice cream.

Total win/loss for the day $200
Total Comps for the day $206
