Day 25
Tuesday August 21, 2012
Today when we got up we got ready and packed up the few things we unpacked. I ran out looking for some take out breakfast in Harrah's and Harvey's with no luck. Nothing is open up here at this hour for take out except for the American River Cafe but I didn't want to order that much food. I ended up getting a sandwich at the gift shop of all places for the bargain price of $6.99! (Note sarcasm!)

We rolled out of Harrah's Tahoe around 10am and headed for back to Reno to the airport. We were way ahead of schedule so I drove past the Atlantis and Peppermill so Dee could get a look at those. We didn't have that much time so we didn't go in. We also took one last roll up Virginia Street.

I gassed up the car and returning the car went well and there were no surprises. One thing I like about Reno is the rental cars are right at the terminal so there is no bussing from a garage to the airport making life easier.

We checked in for the flight and everything went well here with just a shot wait and we were off to security. Everything here was smooth except for the fact the Dee was flying on her old name (with full documentation showing a name change) and the first 2 TSA agents were lost on what to do. A supervisor straightened everything out and then we were off to the gate. We were quite a bit early but I had to get the rental car retuned by about 1:30 or we would have gotten tagged for an extra day on it.

For lunch we ate in the airport where I got a turkey avocado sandwich and a container with crackers, cheese and grapes, and a soda at a price of almost $20. I don't mind paying a bit more in the airport but this is a bit much.

We had plenty of time yet so we popped $10 into a penny slot. We didn't hit anything too large but got to play for 30 minutes.

We were supposed to leave at 3:45pm but today President Obama was flying into Reno right about that time so the airport was totally locked down for security reasons. I didn't see his plane Air force 1 land but we did see it taxi past the terminal and park not too far from it. It was about 500 feet away and I actually saw the Obama come down the stairs. Once the madness of his arrival was over the airport was given the all clear and business got back to normal, just 30 minutes late.

Like we've been doing on the previous flights we have been pre-boarding and took the front row of seats again. This flight was scheduled to leave at 3:45pm and arrive in Las Vegas at 5:10. The captain came on and told us it would take an hour and 20 minutes and we'd be there at 5:40, exactly 30 minutes late.

We pushed back and the flight was smooth until the final descent. We landed in Las Vegas just when the captain said we would. We had to wait for Dee's wheelchair so were last off again but that was ok. We made it down to baggage claim to fetch the bag and then to the parking machine to pay for the parking garage fees. All of this went well and we were back in the original rental car. It was nice not having to board the bus to the rental car facility and go through all of that crap again. I pulled out of the garage and we headed over to the Gold Coast to collect the four 8 packs of soda/water that I had earned last week when we stayed there.

The next stop was at 99¢ Only to pick up some other snacks for the week and a few other necessities and then it was down Flamingo to Sam's Town.

We'd be spending the next 5 nights here at Sam's. I booked this room on a mailer that offered 5 nights, $100 in free play and a gold card. A gold card is good for food and drinks at ALL of the restaurants at Sam's Town and is essentially RFB. I'm not sure why I started getting gold card offers again since we'd been silver for the last few trips. I haven't had a gold card here in about 10 years since I was a regular here at Sam's and before the screwed their slot club up back then.

Checking in was quick and easy and the handicap room we reserved was available. We were given room 650 with a king bed, nightstands, small table and chairs, dresser, flat screen TV, work desk and a view of the park. The bathroom is standard and has bars and a shower bench.

We got our things set up in the room and then we hit the sports book deli for dinner. Dee got an Italian combo and I got Philly cheese steak with fries. The food here is pretty good and made to order.

After dinner it was time for some video poker action. We chose to play half dollar 8/5 bonus. Dee hit quad deuces right away and shot her meter right up. I was hovering and hit just a single quad but it wasn't enough to avoid going bust. Dee hovered for a little longer and eventually cashed out with a $100 win and even for us as a team on a short session.

We packed it in early tonight because of a long travel day and it gave us some time to get our things organized in the room.

Total win/loss for the day $0
Total Comps for the day $72
