Day 30
Sunday August 26, 2012
Today we packed up our things and got ready for the move. This didn't take too long because the laundry we picked up yesterday was still packed and I threw the whole bundle right in the suit case! Ah, if packing were always this easy. Of course before we left we had to get one more comped meal on the gold card before we checked out. We went to the deli and got some sandwiches, soup and cake. Everything was good here but the soup was warm at best. I'm going to miss this gold card when we leave here!

When we were done eating we went back to the room to gather up our things and headed to the car and to the Strip to the Riviera where we'd be staying for the next three nights. You may have noticed that we didn't go anywhere near the strip so far this trip with exception of crossing over it a few times when we went to the Gold Coast and that's been fine with us. This was booked on a mailed offer allowing entry into the grand guarantee that is a loss rebate of up to $1000 which is now cancelled and show tickets to the Icons of Comedy, La Cage or Crazy Girls. The offer also allowed us to check in at the VIP area.

Checking in here went well and was quick. We were assigned room 558 in the south tower. This room has 2 queen beds, a nightstand, dresser, flat screen TV, work desk and chair, and an armchair with ottoman. It has a view of Circus - Circus and what would have been Echelon Place if Boyd had ever finished building it. The bathroom is small with your standard toilet, roll in shower and vanity.

Once we got into the room and settled in we took a break and watched TV and got caught up on e-mails. Then we hit the casino for a little action. They don't have a ton of good video poker here but we were able to find some $1 machines and started to pound away. I wanted to take it easy here because we're already down as it is and playing at the dollar level could really kill us.

Things here were decent with Dee hitting a quad right away and then scoring quad aces shortly after. I was plugging away with nothing major but did hit a few quads and full houses to keep going. Dee stayed on a tear hitting quads regularly and I hit a few more along the way. Once we were done we had run over 10k through the machines and had a profit on top of it! It was actually our first winning day since we were in Lake Tahoe.

For a break in the action we wandered through the Riv checking out all of the changes they've made here, none for the better from what I could see. One thing I do like though is there is now an annex to the Pinball Hall of Fame so we went through there and I found a machine with a credit on it and played it off, also scoring a free game myself.

The only thing that really sucks about staying here is that we have no comp bank built up for food. Because of this we decided to eat at Palace Station for a late night dinner at their Grand Cafe. We both had the 2 egg skillet breakfast and split a side order of pancakes too. While we were eating our server asked if we were the ones that hit the $417,000 Wheel of Fortune progressive last night. Sadly no we didn't.

We got back here to the Riv around midnight and packed it in as another day was now completed

Total win/loss for the day $250
Total Comps for the day $81
