Day 36
Saturday September 1, 2012
Today we started off with the buffet for brunch. Red and green card holders that are hotel guests on the weekend get to sit in a special area with a few additional items that the other guests don't get. We also get tablecloths and cloth napkins. Dee needed to have this today because she is royalty after all. This brunch buffet is normally $13 and change per person and I have to say, save your money and go elsewhere for brunch because this buffet is nowhere near worth what they charge for it.

After we ate we returned to the room to rest and let the huge amount of food settle and to get ready for the day. First stop was a little shopping over in Arizona to CVS for a few final essentials and to Beall’s to see if there were any deals. We got what we needed at CVS but Beall’s was a bust. One thing I did find though was one of those Maverick Convenience stores and was able to get Dee some of that Squeaky cheese she likes! One other milestone we hit today was running the 1000th mile onto this rental car since we picked it up. By the time we return it more than half of the miles will be from us! It's also a record for me out here even though this trip is a little longer than the trip with my previous record.

Went came back to Laughlin and hit the casino for some video poker action. We hit the triple plays again hoping that the crap from the last 2 days wasn't going to follow us. Being that is September 1st I was expecting there to be a new batch of free play for each of us but there wasn't. This was a bummer and I'm guessing that because it's a holiday weekend the free play wasn't going to get loaded until Tuesday. We only hit enough quads to keep playing for a while but nothing major happened here. When we both busted out we were down a few bills a piece.

After the session was over we hit the Cove bar again for drinks and appetizers with the other voucher we had. Tonight we got the fried zucchini. This appetizer was good but again wasn't enough for 2 people. We did notice that the pizzas were pretty good looking and would definitely feed 2 people.

When we were done eating the video poker machines were calling us and we played the triple plays again. I switched over to spin poker for a change. I started out ok hitting a quad and getting a few dealt winners but then things turned and I lost a few hundred. Dee did hovered most of her session though and that prevented us from getting beat up too badly. She even hit a straight flush A2345 on a 4 card hold which is a nice hit, but also a bummer as it's a backwards royal that doesn't pay anywhere close to one!

We were hungry again so hit Cafe Aquarius for a late dinner. Dee got the signature wrap again and I got the prime rib sliders again. Both were good and our server Nathan was fun and did a great job.

Dee was tired so called it a night. I wasn't ready to go to bed so I went back out once she was settled in.

I walked down to the Golden Nugget because I thought I had $50 in free play here from my mailer now that it's September 1st. When I tried to load it there was nothing in my account so I'm assuming again it's because it's the holiday weekend. I was going to play some blackjack because I like to play here but the tables were packed so I left.

I came back to the Aquarius and hit the video poker machines again. Things weren't very good at the triple plays but I hit enough quads to keep going and got a decent amount of play in. I switched over to take a shot at some dollar video poker and things were better here. I was hovering at first then there was a fast bleed but on my last hand I hit quad kings and got back in it. From there I hit back to back full houses and a few other bigger hands and cashed out with a $200 win.

I took that $200 along with the $200 I bought in for and went to the blackjack tables. I found a double deck game that was dead and opened it up. Things started off with me losing a double down hand on the first round but then they were good for me. I was getting dealt high totals and the dealer was breaking or standing with lower totals. I was hitting double downs and got a few blackjacks. My only mistake was not pumping up my bets when I had the urge to. Eventually things started to change with the dealer hitting hands 2 or 3 times and not busting so I got while the getting was good and cashed out close to a grand.

When I was at the cage I heard a roar at the roulette table and turned to see what the ruckus was all about. The call was 9 and one guy had $5 on it but the other guy had a huge stack on it, which turned out to be $40 for a $1400 win. That was cool to see.

I finished off the night playing new skee ball slot machine. The graphics and sounds were good on it but I didn't get any bonus rounds and lost about 30 bucks here before heading to bed at 2am on another roller coaster of a day.

Total win/loss for the day - $150
Total Comps for the day $85
