Day 2
Sunday September 22, 2013
We started off today with breakfast at the Market Street Cafe. On the way to the Cal I spotted a crumpled up ticket on the floor. We stopped and I picked it up figuring it was going to be for a few pennies. To my surprise it was for $20. We were seated quickly and Dee had a western omelet. I went with a lunch item and the French dip sandwich, my second favorite here at the Cal. Food was good and we were well looked after by our server and bus person.

It was time for some video poker action. There was nothing major here. We hovered for quite a bit but I dropped $200 for the session. Dee snagged a set of aces and hit the dreaded straight flush to the king that saved the session from being a total bust.

We took a break in the room and Dee did her exercises while I watched some football for a while. Then it was back to the casino for another session of video poker at the triple plays. This time things were choppy. Dee hit another couple of sets of aces while I lost. In total by the end of the session we broke even.

For dinner we again went to the Market Street Cafe. I got the Chicken Adobo special and Dee got the half sandwich, cup of soup and salad bar. The service was very quick tonight. The food was tasty and I would order this again. I was disappointed to see that with the new menu that the daily special has been raised from $7.99 to $8.99.

After dinner it was back to the video poker machines again. I started with 5 play and pretty much got killed. I switched back to triple play and things leveled off a bit. Dee was hovering as usual and scored her 4th set of aces for the day. Shortly after I scored my first! This just kept me going a little longer and I couldn't seem to hit much else. One thing that's been happening so far is the lack of bonus quads. We've had very few 2-3-4 although we've had a fair amount of aces.

One highlight of the session wasn’t video poker related at all. At the bank of slots adjacent to the bank we were playing there was a lady playing a penny game. She was betting $5 per spin and doing fairly well. A male friend of hers came over and they started talking when suddenly she exclaimed “You cocksucker!” in her outdoor voice. I was almost in tears I was laughing so hard.

For a late evening snack we hit the snack bar over at the California. We got the saimen noodles and an order of vegetable egg rolls. The foods here are never gourmet but there are quick and tasty.

From here it was to the cage to cash in our scratch cards for the day. We had 6 @ $3 which if I recall is 5 more than we had all of the last trip combined and 28 @ $2.

That did it or the night and we came up here to rest with some TV and then to sleep.

Total win/loss for the day -$450
Total Comps for the day $193
Total number of eff bombs for the day = 31
