Day 3
Monday September 23, 2013
We started off early today with a trip to Dee's favorite buffet over at the Fremont. It's basic and does the trick of filling the belly but that's about all.

After breakfast we went over to the 4 Queens. I had a mail offer for $80 in free play. I also wanted to give them a decent day of play to increase my future mailers. We chose 9/6 jacks or better for quarters and halves. I also have a coupon for 2x points up to 500 from the ACG and a coupon for $10 in free play from the LVA coupon book. This was a session from hell for the most part. I was feeding in bill after bill with Dee hovering as always. Just like last time we were here playing 9/6 jacks, I told her to hit quads but NOT aces. What does she do 10 minutes later? Of course she hits aces. Even she started getting beat up. As each of my bills would get down to the last $20 I was taking my hail Mary with some Double-Double bonus. As luck would have it I hit quad deuces at one point to help the session from being a complete disaster. I also got dealt quad nines. Dee dropped about a buck and a half here for what was really her first loss of the trip so far. Her best hand of the session was the killer dealt straight flush A – 5, a backwards royal.

For a break we went over to Neonopolis to go to the Toy Shack. This is a toy store that has vintage and collectible toys. The owner is featured regularly on Pawn Stars when they need an “expert” opinion about the value of a toy. Of course it was closed until 1pm and it was only about noon.

We went back over to the 4 Queens to get in a little more action and again hit the jacks or better games. I again was feeding in bill after bill while Dee hovered. After duping in 2 bills with no quads I switched machines. I even took a shot with dollar double-double with no luck. Today's bad run of luck was a lack of quads, not filling flush 4, not filling straight 4 and getting low paired to death. It wasn't uncommon to go 10 hands in a row with a low pair and not connect on any of them. After losing the $100 bill on dollar DDB I switched to quarters and tried 1 more bills. Not 10 hands later I get dealt 4 aces. I let out a few choice words about playing halves and dollars all day and NOW I get the aces. I didn't pull the kicker but it helped a bit. Dee who was still hovering up until now started losing and eventually lost her buy in. What an ass kicking today has been so far.

I hit the host office when we were done playing to get a comp to Magnolia's Veranda for dinner. The host I dealt with gave me an open ended comp so it was time to do some damage and go enjoy the $650 meal we were about to eat. We started off with a sampler platter with chicken wings, potato skins, mozzarella sticks and chicken fingers. I got the rib eye special that came with soup (I got the gumbo), potato, and vegetables. Dee got the spaghetti and meatballs and a milk shake. We topped it off with chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream. The vanilla ice cream was not good and tasted like it had been in the freezer for a long time.

After dinner I hit the slot club booth and turned in my 2x points coupon and $10 free play coupon. The girl had the supervisor add my points right away and I cashed out for $100. This included some older points that had been on my card for a while.

Next up we hit the machines to run the $90 free play through. Dee said we should do dollars and I picked 9/6 jacks. Nothing happened here except for holding 3 to a royal and watching the 4th card fill in followed by junk followed by the eff word. I turned the $90 free play into $55 and we left.

We headed back here to Main Street Station and when we cut through the Cal ran into Buddha. We discussed our dismal days for a bit and then it was back to it at the video poker machines here for a while here at Main Street Station. Dee chose triple play and I was switching between triple and five play. It was more of the same for me feeding in bill after bill. Again my hail Mary play wasn't working either. I decided on my 4th bill that I would just play it all on double-double. I hit a few quads along the way to keep going and then out of the blue holding a pair of aces I hit the quad with the kicker on line 5 to save not only the session but the day. I went from being in for $400 this session to being up $200 just like that. Dee did her part as well hitting a set of aces of her own on bonus poker and finishing the session with a $100 win. In total we had 12 scratch cards and they were all for $2 except for one $3 card.

It's early only being about 8:30pm but it's been a long day and we didn't take any breaks today so we're done for the night. Tomorrow is another day.

Total win/loss for the day - $150
Total Comps for the day $272
Total number of eff bombs for the day = 36
