Trip Report
June 11, 2014 - July 11, 2014

Welcome to the summer trip report for 2014. This trip will be one of the longest ever at 31 days. It's been about 8 months since our last trip and we're really looking forward to this one. As always my wife Dee (who is still recovering and using a wheelchair) will be with me and once again “the cousins” will be making an appearance too! We'll be staying and playing in some of our usual haunts and checking out a few new places too. As always there will be bargain hunting, eating, promos, coupons and of course, gaming, and lots of it. Now with the introduction out of the way, let's get going!

Day 1
Wednesday June 11, 2014
Note: This is day is a pre-trip report and there is no gaming or Las Vegas related material in it. If you are not interested in this, please skip to “Day 2”.

We left the house today around 1:30pm and headed to the plant where I work. I parked the car here and Dee waited for me to walk up to the airport terminal (I work less than a mile from the terminal) to pick up a rental car. My car is in need of repair and a co-worker will be fixing it while we're away. My normal rental here is from Avis, but they were too high in price. Instead I booked through Budget. I got a rate of $68 through Budget. Avis wanted more than twice that. The stupid part of this is Budget is not only owned by Avis, but here at Stewart Airport they share the same counter and cars.

They assigned me a Chevy impala with 9917 miles on it in like new condition. I gave it a look over and then headed back to the plant to swap luggage and pick Dee up. From here we headed north to Lake George, NY where we'd be spending our pre-flight night.

I hadn't eaten anything yet today so we made a quick trip into Sonic for some chicken tender sandwiches to hold us over.

The ride up was uneventful and I made a stop in Albany at a bakery I was familiar with and grabbed some baked goods and then jumped back onto the Northway.

After a decent drive we rolled into town. The first order of business was to get a bite to eat. We stopped at an original A&W where they still offer car side service. We grabbed a couple of burgers and an order of fried cheese curds. Dee also got a side of coleslaw.

We drove through town and then hit our hotel for the night, the Econo-Lodge of Lake George. We stayed here in the fall of last year for one night as well. I booked this back in May for $49. We've stayed here before and while it's not the greatest hotel, it's not the worst either. They also offer breakfast in the morning and it's pretty decent but, not great.

Checking in was quick like it usually is here and we were off to room 117. This is a handicap room with 2 queen beds, a night stand, dresser, safe and flat screen TV. It has a restricted view of the Lake and an accessible bathroom.

It was rainy and gloomy tonight so we just stayed in at the hotel and watched TV including Game 4 of the Stanley Cup finals.

Total win/loss for the day $0
Total Comps for the day $0
