Day 3
Friday June 13, 2014
Today we were up early and started off with breakfast over at the Fremont buffet. The food is average here but Dee likes the atmosphere if we get there early enough.

Once we were done eating at the Fremont it was time to head back to Main Street Station. We hit the video poker machines again and this time good things happened. We hit a fair number of quads, I hit a straight flush and Dee hit aces twice. We ran over 7k through the machines but my luck had me losing $200 with Dee breaking even.

We took a short break in the room and actually both fell asleep. I guess yesterday's travels caught up to us.

It was getting late and it was now time to run back to the rental car facility to return the car I got last night and pick up the new car the we'll be keeping for the rest of the trip. Dee stayed back at the hotel and read her book and rested while I did this.

Normally I don't like spending the time to do this but by making this 2 separate rentals it saved me $250. Returning the first car went slowly. They only had 2 agents processing returns. I also had to stop by the booth and have my coupon applied making this a free rental except for some of the taxes.

Picking up the second car went a little better. For this rental I've also reserved a full sized car with Dollar. Initially they wanted $609 for the monthly rate and that's where the rate remained for months. Finally back on March 27th the rate for the 4 week rental dropped $109.53 per week or $438. Two days later it dropped again to $99.20 per week. The next day it dropped to $94.79 per week and the next day it dropped to just $90.17 per week. After that it spiked back up to $609 again. It did drop again in mid May but not quite as low as I had it reserved for. On June 3rd it dropped down a few more bucks to $88.03 per week. Then later that day I got an e-mail for a 24 hours sale offering 24% off on a compact through premium car. I ran the code and for the first time ever rebooked a car twice in the same day for a rate of $82.60 per week. I don't keep records of this but I'm pretty sure this is the second lowest rate I've ever paid for a weekly price. The best was a few years ago at Christmastime when I was under $80 for the week.

They didn't have a car pre selected for me but they told me to pick any car in the full sized row. I checked 15-20 cars for mileage and every one of them ranged from 31,000 to 54,000.

The car I got this time was Chevy Impala with 31,000 miles on it in decent condition. I looked over the car and headed to security to repeat the same process I went through last night. In a few minutes I was on my way back downtown.

When I got back to Main Street Station we got ready to go eat dinner. Tonight we chose the Market Street Cafe. I had the open faced turkey which is a long time favorite of mine and Dee had the chili over spaghetti with salad bar and a vanilla milkshake. The food was good tonight and the service was as good as it gets at the Cal.

When we finished with dinner it was back to the casino again and more video poker. We took the machines over by the bar this time and I played five play and Dee played triple play. She was on fire popping aces after just a few minutes and various other quads. I was hitting my fair share of quads too. Dee ended up hitting aces 2 more times and I hit them 7 times including a dealt set for $500. Later on I also got dealt sevens. This was a good session with us hitting 48 quads between us and winning $800 for the session without hitting a royal flush.

It was getting late so we packed it in for the night and headed to the room for some sleep.

Total win/loss for the day $600
Total Comps for the day $194
