Day 5
Sunday June 15, 2014
Today is a busy day with us playing here at Main Street Station, and also having to go check in not only at the Four Queens but also at the Rio.

We started off with lunch at the Triple 7 Brew Pub. They had just opened and we were only the 2nd people to enter. Dee got the fish and chips and I got my standard filet sandwich. Dee's fish was great but my sandwich wasn't the best. The quality of this sandwich has gone downhill over the last few years. I'll give another try or 2 in the future before giving upon it totally though.

It was not time for some video poker action. I started off with five play. I hit aces early on and never looked back. I hit only 9 quads my whole session and went long stretches without hitting anything. However 3 of my 8 quads were aces and I was dealt a number flushes and full houses. I was actually up over $400 for the session after the 3rd quad aces hit before dropping down. Dee started with triple play and on a hand of 3 dealt aces scored 2 sets of them. She switched to 5 play and then ten play where she hovered for a good part of the session. She finished her session with a $100 win and I finished with a $200 win to help offset some of the bad luck I had last night. Between us we also got 21 scratch cards. All were for $2 except for one for them that was for $3.

We went over to the Four Queens to check in. We won't actually be staying here but we always play here each trip. Based on our play last time we were here Dee got an offer for 3 nights, $200 in free play and all meals at Magnolia's Veranda and Chicago Brewing Company. Normally we wouldn't check in but to get the food offer you need to have a room.

On the way over to the Four Queens we stopped at the slot club and had host Ipo book our next stay which will be in December. I actually booked 6 nights here as we have really been enjoying our stays here.

When we got to the Four queens to check in there wasn't a line and Dee's check in went fast. We were given room 1025 and off we went. This is a room in the north tower. It has 2 queen beds, a nightstand, dresser and flat screen TV. The room is pretty large. The bathroom is larger than the standard rooms with a long vanity, toilet and tub with safety bars.

We looked over the room left the Four Queens. We took the opportunity to go and take a look at the new Downtown Grand. We just walked through and liked the look of the place but with no decent video poker, there wasn't much sense in staying around. It was pretty dead in here which was no wonder since I saw $15 blackjack tables. Folks running the Grand, this is downtown, $15 tables mid day doesn't bring in customers and neither does having the worst VP. We took a few pictures and went back over to Main Street Station.

We packed up most of our stuff and I headed out to the Rio. Starting tomorrow this is where we'll be spending our next 4 nights. I originally booked this room for 5 nights because I didn't know exactly when we were going to arrive on this trip. It was easier to keep all 5 nights instead of changing the reservation. Once we had everything we wanted to take we were off to the car and off to the Rio.

I have a diamond card with the Caesars properties, mainly from play in Atlantic City, so I checked in at the diamond check in area. According to the website this is a QQ Suite with a mobility roll in Shower. While they consider all of their rooms suites based on the description of this room on their website, it's a larger suite than the standard suites. It was also listed at the same price as the Masquerade Suites. I still didn't know for sure what we'd actually get. Checking in took long. The guy that checked me in said he didn't have the larger room I booked and gave me the bullshit story about how comped rooms are just a request. I bitched ay him for a while and said this is a regular thing that when I book a particular room at CET properties I never get what I booked. He did give me a cupcake for Dee's birthday that's coming up in a few days. He did give me a room ob the 20th floor which is a key accessible floor (must insert key in elevator) and the rooms are a bit nicer.

We were given room 2066. This is a king room with 2 nightstands, a dining table/desk, flat screen TV with obscenely overpriced snacks ($5 single serve Pringles), couch, coffee table and has a view of the Orleans, Palms and Gold Coast. The hallway to the bathroom has a closet on the left and on the right is a make up counter, coffee maker and refrigerator. The bathroom has a vanity, toilet and tub with security bars and that infamous window that leads from the tub into the bedroom. I still to this day don't understand this.

The room is nice but in spots is actually beat to shit. I can forgive banged up furniture and scuff marks on the walls as I know power chairs beat the hell out of things. What I can't accept is peeling wallpaper in the bathroom, clothes hook falling out of the wall, shelves busted, thick dust in the corners of the bathroom and the rubber bumper to protect the wall from the door swinging dangling and barley attached. For anyone keeping score we are currently guests in three hotels at once with food included in 2 of them and enough comps built up on our cards to eat for a month at the 3rd!

I dropped off the luggage I brought over, unpacked and then headed out back to Main Street Station. I went up to get Dee and we went to the Market Street Cafe for dinner. Dee had a western omelet and I had their long running prime rib special. It's a thin cut of prime rib with potato, vegetable, soup (I had the cream of broccoli that the waitress forgot to bring) or salad bar and cherries jubilee for dessert. Dee got chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream for her dessert.

On the way back through the casino we took one more shot at video poker with decent results. Dee popped a few quads on triple play and bumped up to ten play. She ended up losing and popping in another bill. I was playing five play and hovering for a while but then got low paired to death. It wasn't uncommon to go five hands with no payouts. When I got down to $25 I switched to double-double for my hail Mary. It' paid off when I was dealt trip fours and hit the 4th with an ace on line 4 for a $200 hit. I switched back to bonus poker and played for a while longer before the bleed started again. Meanwhile, Dee was on a quad frenzy and actually got ahead by a few bucks. I ended up busting out and Dee quit with a $100 loss for the session so down just $200 for the session after running almost 8k through the machines.

Total win/loss for the day $100
Total Comps for the day $547 ← High because of the Rio room rates
