Day 7
Tuesday June 17, 2014
It was a sleep in kind of day today but once we got up and motivated we went back downtown to the Four Queens where we'd be playing on my card. I got a mail offer for 3 nights and $80 in free play. I had a few trips in the past where I short played and it caused my offers to suffer a bit. Last year we got a decent day of play on my card and today I plan to do the same. Today's strategy was the same as yesterday.

The first thing we did was hit Magnolia's for breakfast/lunch. Dee had the French Quarter which is nothing more than sausage, eggs, hash browns and toast. I got the open faced turkey and I hate to say it but it is a little better than it's twin over at the Cal.

After we ate we played the jacks or better machines and started out playing for halves. Dee was getting her ass kicked while I was doing OK. Things continued to go south for her so we switched games. The 50 play machines were open so we hit those. The pay tables aren't as good as the single line games with 7/5 bonus but we took a shot. Dee was still getting beaten up and I was the one hovering. Go figure that one out. I got dealt 4 to a royal and by luck I hot nothing. By the time we had enough points on my card Dee had a few dollars left. She played it through and was on a comeback. In a 3 card royal hold she scored her first royal of the trip on the bottom line for a $200 hit and halving her losses for the day.

I stopped over at the player's club turn in my 2X points coupon from the ACG and the $10 free play coupon from the Las Vegas Advisor Member Rewards Book. I also cashed out my points for $46.

Between VP sessions we took a break with a show. I scored tickets on Goldstar for the Broadway Rat Pack here at the 4 Queens. I just had to pay the service charge of $9 per ticket. I figured since we'd be here anywhere and it was an afternoon show it was worth a shot, especially for the price. With that said all this show is worth is $9. It was an OK way to spend an hour but if I had paid to see this show, I'd feel ripped.

After we were fed it was back to the machines again to wrap up the action. We chose to run my free play through the quarter machines which was now $90 with the MRB coupon added in. I was able to cash out $80 of the $90 in free play easing the earlier losses that much more.

It was getting a bit late so we headed back to the Rio. We rested a bit and did some physical therapy with Dee for a while and then it was dinner time.

Tonight we chose the Rio buffet. I used the 2 for 1 coupon from the Las Vegas Advisor Member Rewards Book and used points to pay the balance. Everything here was good that I tried and this place is just way too big. My only complaint with this buffet though is the very weak dessert section. What was once one of the best is now one of the worst as far as selection. The Gold Coast across the street has a better dessert selection than the Rio does and it's 1/3 of the price.

We ate too much and rolled into the casino for a small amount of action. The plan was again to do a few thousand through the short play 7/5 bonus machines. I had a short period of quads including a set of aces. Dee bled a little bit only hitting one quad and losing while I broke even which was my theme for the day.

It was getting late so we gave up on the gaming and came up here to watch some TV and then go to bed.

Total win/loss for the day -$350
Total Comps for the day $582
