Day 23
Thursday July 3, 2014
We weren't up as early as we usually are today because we are moving. We finished packing up our things and got ready for the move.

We met up with the cousins and headed out the door around noon.

Up the mountain we went with Las Vegas in our near future. The drive was uneventful and we arrived in Henderson and dropped off our laundry for fluff and fold service like we usually do.

The next stop on the drive would be to Sam's Town where we'd be spending the next 5 nights. I booked a mailed offer good for 5 nights, $75 free play, and a gold card which is good for complimentary meals in all of the restaurants. I had my host upgrade us to the handicap suite that we had last year.

Dee also had a reservation that she booked for 3 nights with $25 in free play. She had an additional night added to that at casino rate of $46. This room is actually for the cousins.

Checking in was fast for both of us. We were in suite 268. This room has a wet bar area with fridge when you walk in. The living room has a sectional sofa, dining table, work desk and a 55 or 60 inch flat screen TV.

The bedroom area is small with a king bed with nightstands on each side and a 32 inch TV. There's a special whirlpool tub designed for handicap people with a door to enter through. There's also a retractable shower head in there.

The bathroom has a roll in shower, long vanity counter and security bars.

There isn't much of a view as this room is on the second floor right behind the waterfall but that's ok because I'd rather have the suite instead of the view since we've been here so many times.

Dee's room assignment was 424. I had requested a park view and also requested a good view of the waterfalls so the cousins could enjoy watching the shows from their room 100 times over the next 4 days. They WERE excited to be staying here but after enduring that mess, I'm going to wonder!

We got settled into the room and then it was time for a little video poker. They were running a promo here today that if you earned 100 points you got a 6 pack of Pepsi or Diet Pepsi and a cooler. For 50 more points you got an additional gift. I grabbed my card and the cousins cards and hit the casino. I figured I could run $450 through the machines in 20 minutes and I did. God things happened too. I hit a quad and various other “stuff”. By the time I ran everyone's action I had enough for six 6 packs and won $85!

We all collected our soda and then it was time for a trip to the Strip. We wanted to go to Harrah's to see Million Dollar Quartet using our diamond tickets for the month of July. We both got our diamond tickets and Dee also collected her $100 celebration dinner certificate for achieving diamond for the year (which was achieved in Atlantic City where the games are better). The only issue here was Dee's account has her previous last name on it and he Id for that name expired over 2 years ago. For the first time since then a casino employee caught it. It took a few minutes to adjust and convert her account and then we were on our way.

We got great seats for the 5:30 show which was ¾ empty. I enjoyed the show despite not knowing quite a few of the songs they did. What I liked about the show as it wasn't just a bunch of impersonators singing cover tunes, but actually had a story line. It's one of the few shows I've been to that half way through I didn't start saying to myself, “Is it over yet?”

For dinner we went to the new restaurant at the Quad (soon to be renamed the Linq Hotel and formerly the Imperial Palace) to the Guy Fieri restaurant the opened up a few months ago. I got the Motley Que sandwich. It's pulled pork with pickles, onion straws, slaw and cheese. Dee got nachos. We'd only racked up $75 between the four of us and this $100 was use it or lose it. So we ordered dessert. I got the mint ice cream and it was huge. It was 10 inches high, 6 inches wide and covered with chocolate cookies, sauce and candy and had fudge swirled through it. The cousins got the build your own sundae that was equally as huge. Dee also got a piece of cheesecake to go. The bill was now $120 (oops, we ordered too many) We used Dee's $100 voucher to pay the bill and reward credits to pay the rest. Then the server came back and said her took her $11 off and we still owed $8. $11? Uh, you better try that again as I know there is over $1400 available on the account. The manager came over and after a long and call to the Total Rewards desk were able to see the points but the system wasn't downloading them. We were good to go though and it would be resolved as soon as someone at Total Rewards fixed it.

We finally got out of there and then went to explore the rest of the new Linq area and the Quad. I have to say that I can't believe what they did to transform the Imperial Palace into the Quad. It really is amazing that it's the same place. Other than a few things that were always there, I would have never known it was the same place. The Linq is also pretty amazing as well standing in the same space the O'Sheas used to sit. These two places kind of roll into one another and it' easy to see why in the next few months the Quad will be re-branded again into the Linq Casino and Hotel. From outside you can see they've already closed one of the towers to start the renovations on.

We came back to Sam's Town after the show. We were way too full from dinner but wanted to play a little bit. We found a few machines to bang away one for a while. My luck from this afternoon continued and I hovered for about an hour only losing $10. Dee played for the whole time but the VP gods still had it out for her and she lost $100. While we didn't play a lot we didn't get killed and had almost a break even day. This was a welcomed reprieve from the results we endured in Laughlin!

Total win/loss for the day $0
Total Comps for the day $530
