Day 32 (BONUS DAY)
Saturday July 12, 2014
We slept in today, and by that I mean until noon! This is not exactly how I planned to spend the bonus day but it was much needed. It also kept us from losing anymore of our profits.

For breakfast here at the Gold Coast I hit Java Vegas using some more of the food credits that came with the room. I got a selection of pastry and drinks to hold us over for the day.

Since we had slept in we didn't have as much time to do anything so we packed up our few items and headed out.

We did the same thing as yesterday parking in short term at the airport, and checking in. Things were much calmer here today. Once we were checked in I headed out to gas up the car and then back to the garage to return the rental car. Everything here was fast and I was on the shuttle and back at the airport in no time.

When I got back to the airport we did the security thing again. It was the same as yesterday, maybe even faster.

When we got to the gate I was hoping to get bumped again. Things would be tight for me if it happened again but I was sure hoping to score another $1000 in airfare. This didn't happen and we were boarded on this flight.

This is Southwest flight 179 and is non stop right into Albany. We were scheduled to depart at 4:25pm and arrive in Albany at 12:05am with a 4 hour and 40 minute flight time. However when I checked this morning there was a 20 minute delay. The captain came on the PA and said it was going to take just 4 hours. The flight was smooth for the most part and. I originally booked these flights back in March and they were $228 per person. Much like the flight out to Las Vegas once I booked the fares never moved until a few weeks before the flight. I think this is one of the first times I never rebooked a flight on Southwest to save a few bucks.

We landed in Albany at midnight as promised but there was no gate ready so we had to sit on the taxiway for almost 30 minutes before we got into the gate.

It took a while for them to bring up the wheelchair but it eventually came up. We hit the baggage claim area and the suitcase was ready and waiting. The next stop was to the Budget rental car counter.

To get back home I booked a one way rental from Budget. Again like when we came up here Avis, the same exact company wanted double what Budget did. I got a full sized for $77. I hate the fact that a one day rental costs this much around here when out in Las Vegas I paid $90 for a whole week!

We were assigned a Hyundai with 31,000 miles on it and it was in good condition visually. I gave the car a quick look, loaded our things into it and we were on our way. I said the car looked good but what a piece of shit it was. Cheap, and something was grinding or rubbing and making a load hum the whole way home. Avis/Budget should be embarrassed to be renting a Hyundai to their customers. The ride home down the NY State Thruway was pretty uneventful like it should be at 2am.

At about 2:30am we rolled into the driveway and this mega trip was officially over (but we are still registered guests of the Gold Coast)
