Day 12
Wednesday September 30, 2015
Once we were up and ready we finished packing up for the trip back to Las Vegas. We still had had some food vouchers left for the Cove or Duet so we used them up at Duet for “breakfast” and got some things to take on the road with us. Dee had a toasted bagel and I had a giant eclair. These things are huge and it's not recommended to eat the whole thing in one sitting but, you'll want to!

The drive back to Las Vegas was uneventful and about as routine as it gets. It was still fairly early so we decided to run up to Arizona Charlie's Decatur. I had a mailer for $90 in free play. We played five play 8/5 bonus. I was getting a good amount of winners and without any quads was up almost $100. Then I hit quad deuces and quad sixes. That would be where my good luck ended though. Soon after I was down to even again so quit while I could. Dee on the other hand started slower. She was down over $50 in no time but then lands dealt quad fives, quad sixes, a dealt full house and the quad aces to finish her session up by over $200. I ran my $90 in free play through nickel STP. I didn't have any good hits but managed to cash out the $90 in free play into $87 cash. We left the machines with about a $300 win for the short session and went to get something to eat at the Sourdough Cafe.

It was really too late for lunch and too early for dinner but we had dinner anyway. Dee got her favorite stand by food, spaghetti and meatballs. I got the pork loin which was 2 boneless chops breaded and fried with mashed potatoes and green beans. The food was pretty good today but nothing outstanding.

We left Arizona Charlie's to go check into our final hotel. Today's travels take us to The Cromwell on the strip. We'll be staying here for the next 4 nights as part of my Diamond Aspirations Level 2 trip. This trip is obtained by reaching 80,000 points and includes airfare for 2 up to $750 and 4 nights in any Caesars property. We chose The Cromwell because I typically can't get comped here on my offers or just by entering my dates on the website.

When we arrived we valet parked and headed in. At check in things were in order and our room was ready and waiting. We were assigned room 608. This is a king room with nightstands, there is a sitting area with L shaped couch and a small coffee table that's also a backgammon table. There is a huge flat screen TV, a dresser that's actually filled with mini bar carp and an old Victorian style chair. Next to the bed there's an armoir with some more dresser space and some room for hanging things. It also contains robes and slippers. Next to that is a make up table that also features salon items for sale at high prices. The bathroom has a vanity, a huge shower stall and since this was originally the Barbary Coast back in the day, the featured window in what is now the toilet room. The room has a view of Flamingo Road, Bally's, Bellagio, Cosmopolitan and City Center. Toto, we're not at the Barbary Coast (or Bill's) anymore! One thing I can say though is the rooms facing Flamingo Road are noisy so if traffic and sirens bothers you, avoid the rooms on this side of the property.

We got settled into the room and since we had no real plans on playing here we had plenty of time to do other things while we were on the strip. One of those things was to get our 2 free tickets to select shows for being diamond and seven stars. We wanted to go over to Bally's to the Total Rewards center but my usual route was closed due to construction. Instead I pushed Dee over to the side of Paris and walked over to Bally's from there only to see the Total Rewards center was closed at like 6pm. What the hell? So if you are at Bally's and needed anything from Total Rewards you had to hike your ass all of the way back to Paris to get what you needed. We got the list and everything we really wanted to see was either sold out for the day or already over or starting. I opted for tickets to the Improv over at Harrah's.

We walked over to Harrah's got the tickets (you can now get them at any box office, you don't have to go to the venue where the show is). This didn't take long and we had 2 good tickets to the show.

It was still a little bit early so we went to the diamond lounge at Harrah's for some snacks. Everything was pretty picked over but they had salads, fruit, chips, breaded shrimp and some dessert items.

It was time to go to the show. They featured 3 comedians with one as the emcee. Danny Villalpando did that job. The featured act was Don Mcenery who apparently wrote Seinfeld and the headliner was Tammy Pescatelli. Between sets the emcee introduced Marcia Warfield formerly from the show Night Court as a special guest. She's getting back into comedy and tried out about 10 minutes of new material.

We came back tot he Cromwell and I brought Dee to the room and then I went back out and over to Paris. My old dealer pal from my Fiesta Henderson days was working so I sat down at his table and played blackjack for a while. Things were not too bad at this table. Nothing great, nothing bad but I was slowly building a pile of chips while just flat betting quarters. Next thing I knew I was up over $300 so pushed my bets up. Once I did this it got choppy with a lot of win one, lose one hands. Ned went to break and a new dealer came in and she was tough. One small pocket had her pulling 2 21's, a 20 and 2 blackjacks. She cleared the table except for me. I played heads up for about 15 minutes with her but couldn't get ahead. Luckily I didn't lose much either but decided to take the profits and run. I cashed out with a $300 win and ran out of there.

I came back to the Cromwell watched some TV with Dee and then went to bed.
