Day 19
Friday July 1, 2016
Happy Canada Day to my Canadian Readers
We started off the day with some in room breakfast with food that we had and finished packing up for the move today.

We went to the slot club to get the vouchers for the July free shows for diamond and 7* players. Then went to the box office to pick up tickets for Menopause, The Musical that we'd be going to see tomorrow.

We headed out of the Linq after waiting like 30 minutes for the car from the valet. Apparently the computer system they use was scanning the valet tickets but not communicating to the computer. Eventually they realized when there were 20 people piled up waiting for cars there was an issue.

Of all of the years coming to town one thing I've never done is go up to Mt. Charleston so we took a drive.

We checked out the area and had lunch at the Lodge. It's pricey but the serving sizes make up for it. For example Dee had chicken fingers and they brought out a plate that had 4 chicken cutlets on it. I had a cup of cream of spinach soup and of course half of Dee's chicken “fingers”.

We came back down the mountain and made our return to Rampart where we'd be staying the next 3 nights. We don't usually stay at the same hotel twice in one trip but we don't have many places where we both get decent offers from but I had a deal here.

We both got invited to the $25,000 Stars and Stripes Slot Tournament. This offer includes a room for 3 nights and two exciting tournament rounds on Saturday. When we arrived we checked in. Only Dee's room was ready. She was given room 5110 which is a standard room with 2 queens beds with a nightstand, dresser, work desk and flat screen TV. There's a small coffee area and a walk in closet. The bathroom is large with a whirlpool tub, dual sinks, toilet room and shower stall.

They were going to call us when my room was ready so we brought all of our stuff to the room and gave the Cousins a tour of the property and came back here to hang out.

The phone rang and I went and got the keys to my room which is a Junior suite 5113. I didn't so much care but I was supposed to have a 1 bedroom suite. My guess is a higher end player this holiday weekend bumped me. This room has a powder room that's handicap accessible when you walk in. On the left there is a coffee maker and fridge. From there you enter the living room with couch, coffee table, dining table that also doubled as the work desk, and TV cabinet. The bedroom portion has a king bed with nightstands and the same TV cabinet (the TV swivels). The bathroom is a very large room. To the left is the toilet room with bidet. To the right is the walk in closet. It has a dual sink vanity, shower stall and whirlpool tub.

Even though this is my room and Dee's was the regular room, we gave it to the cousins. They were quite excited.

We registered for the slot tournament and got our times for tomorrow which are 140pm and 6:40pm.

For dinner we met up and decided to go to the Promenade Cafe. My long time friend Gary and his friend Cathy came to join us as well. Dee had the Cobb salad and I had the Asian Chicken Salad. Both were very good. Our server was good and made sure we were all happy. We used Dee's birthday voucher from our last trip that was good for $60 in food and room charged the rest.

When we were done with dinner we parted ways with Gary and Cathy and the cousins went in their own direction. We hit the player's club to activate my free play. I was surprised but they gave me the slip verifying my stay in order to claim my free play from my quarterly offer which is for $525 in free play and $20 food. Then it was on to the machines for some Spin Poker. This time around it was ok. On my 3rd hand I got dealt quad 4's. I hit a few other quads along the way including a triple quad. Dee also hit a triple quad but that was about all and she was bleeding. I hovered with a few dry spells and we cashed out even between us.

We found some more machines to play and this time it was rough. The only hand of interest for me was picking up a set of aces but that just kept me going a little longer. Dee did a little better only losing half as much as I did. Between us we dumped $600.

I ran my free play through single line video poker and turned the $175 installment into $145 with no hands better than trips.

We were getting tired and it had been a pretty long day so we came up here to take it easy for the rest of the night and watched some TV for a while.
