Day 22
Monday July 4, 2016
Happy Independence Day to my American Readers
Today's plan was to leave a little later since I figured we probably wouldn't be able to check in very early at the next hotel I arranged a 2pm check out. What we did was spend a little time at the pool in the morning. That gave us plenty of time to do those things for a few hours.

It was starting to get late so we came back up here to the room and got cleaned and and ready for the day. For lunch we went to the buffet here using a couple of 2 for 1 coupons and charged the balance to the room. This buffet is basic but does the trick.

After we ate we gathered the rest of our things together, met the cousins in the hotel lobby and then fetched the car from the valet.

The cousins made a quick stop at Lee's Discount Liquors and we got on the road.

From there we were on our way to downtown yet again. We pulled into the D and headed for the check area. Dee had an offer for 4 nights, $200 food, 2 show tickets, $150 free play and three $50 match plays. My offer was identical except the food was $150 and the free play is $100.

Checking in was quick. Dee was assigned room 620. This is a handicap room with a king bed, nightstands, couch, table and chair, dresser and flat screen TV and work area. It has a view of Four Queens and The Fremont Street. The bathroom has a roll in shower, toilet and vanity. There are also safety bars throughout the bathroom. We were warned that this room was right above the stage outside of the D and could be noisy. It is. It won't bother either of us though.

I was given room 2631 and this is the room the cousins would be staying in. This is a king room with a nightstands, couch, table and chairs, dresser and flat screen TV. The bathroom is basic with a shower, toilet, and vanity.

Even thought the offer was for 4 nights, I only booked 3 and we'd really only be staying here for 2 nights.

We got our things up to the room and then it was off to the casino for some gaming action. Today we'd be playing on my card. Today to save time we played dollars. I noticed while we were playing the points were racking up really quickly. I knew it was 5x points for slots but apparently video poker was included in this as well. This was a tough session for Dee who was feeding in bill after bill. I was doing fair but needed to feed in a couple of more bills too. I eventually popped a bonus quad getting me back into it while Dee fed in more money. Things turned around for me when I got dealt quad aces (with a kicker but on bonus poker). Dee continued to bleed. I had my meter up over $750 after the aces but then the bleed started. I dropped $200 in under 5 minutes. But that's when I hit quad aces for the second time and a bunch of full houses. We finally had our action in and I had won $600 but Dee had lost $1000 in a quadless session netting us a $400 loss for the session. Not terrible playing dollars and one or 2 more quads would have made it better.

We didn't eat dinner tonight because we had a really big lunch at the buffet so just had a snack to get by.

We met up with the cousins to go out and watch fireworks. We went to Henderson to Mission Hills Park. We took the 95 to get there and we were about a mile from the exit and the 95 was a parking lot. No effing way am I dealing with this. I passed by the exit and turned around out at Railroad Pass and came back from the other direction. Got right off the freeway and into Foothills High School Parking Lot. This is about ½ a mile from the park but was going to be a good seat. The fireworks were good and lasted about 30 minutes. They also had some competition from the people in the surrounding neighborhoods with their illegal fireworks which were pretty good too.

We came back to the D and the cousins retired for the evening. My first stop was to the players club to get my food vouchers.

We took my 2 match plays to the roulette wheel. On the first one we played black and red came up. The second one we played on odd and 00 came up. In total we lost 2 of 2 netting us a loss of $100. This is not how match plays are supposed to work. I honestly can't recall the last time we played 2 match plays and lost them both, never mind that they were $50 matches.

We chose to play some penny games with my $100 in free play. This was NOT a good idea. We got very little play and before I knew it the $100 was gone.

With our play pretty much done for the day we decided to go to the room to watch TV. I caught the replay of the Nathan's Hot Dog eating contest and saw Joey Chestnut reclaim the championship he'd lost last year by eating 70 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes. This has got to be one of the most disgusting things to watch on TV. We went to sleep soon after this.
