Day 23
Tuesday July 5, 2016
We slept in today because we were tired and Dee didn't want to go to the shitty pool here at the D. Once we got ready for the day it was casino time.

We are playing on Dee's card today. Our first stop was to the player's club so she could turn in the coupon from the Las Vegas Advisor that offers $5 for every 50 points earned up to $100 and the $25 match play coupon. We also got her food vouchers and we were all set.

Next stop was the box office to get show tickets using the coupons in our mailer. Even though they are for Defending the Caveman you can get tickets to Laughternoon which we did since we've seen Defending the Caveman already.

Since we had all day to play we decided to smooth things out a bit and play quarters at the Vue Bar. Things started out great with Dee hitting about 10 full houses in a matter of minutes. She hovered for a while and then took down a $79 straight flush. I was doing well too with almost as many full houses. My downfall was the flush 4 as always. I popped a few quads as well. After a few hours of play things started to turn. I was getting my ass kicked and eventually dropped the $100 I bought in for. I wasn't happy about it considering I was up $125 after my last quad. It wasn't a slow bleed either, it was quick as in lose 15 hands straight, win 1, then lose 10 more. I fed in another bill and hovered for a while but then started to die again. For a hail Mary I switched to the DDB game and popped quad 6's and took down the progressive for over $100 at 424 coins. I got quite a bit of play from this but ended up bleeding out again now down $200 after being up earlier. Dee managed to win $100, so we were only down $100 between us.

For lunch while we were playing I grabbed some hot dogs from American Coney Island using the LVA coupon to hold us over because we had big dinner plans tonight.

We took a break from the action and went to the show with the cousins. This show is general admission but we were first in line after the VIP ticket holders (save your money folks they aren't worth it). We were only a few seat back center stage. The show is comedy magic. This guy is ok but is obviously no Penn & Teller (and he's not supposed to be). The show is normally only $20 but there are 2 for 1 tickets available out there so I'd recommend it if you are downtown looking for a cheap afternoon.

For dinner we had reservations to Andiamo at the D for the cousins farewell dinner. With Dee's food vouchers and my food vouchers we have $350 available to use here. We started with the giant meatball as an appetizer and then had Caesar Salad. For entrees I had a rib eye . Dee had Tortellaci Guiseppe. The food was good with the only exception of my steak ordered medium rare and it was medium when it arrived. For dessert Dee had Carrot Cake and I had Italian Wedding Cake. Both were excellent.

This was a great meal and we all enjoyed it. The total bill came to just under $300 and was covered by the vouchers that we got with our mailers.

After dinner we took a walk up Fremont Street. What a fucking zoo it is down here anymore. On the walk we stopped at Binion's and the 4 of us had a group photo taken in front of the million dollars. Sorry, it's just not the same as the original million when it was Binion's Horseshoe.

Back to the casino and more action on the video poker machines. We still need 3k in action to max out Dee's coupon and chose to play for halves this time just to get it done. Things were streaky and I was up and down. I eventually hit a quad to stay in it. Dee hovered for a while but then it got bad for her. I got back into it by hitting quad aces on a single ace hold. Dee was hovering and I started losing again. But that's when I hit aces again to go way up. Now between us we needed 50 points ($500 in action) and Dee proceeded to lose $100 and I was actually down $150 with only 45 points earned. Yes, a $250 swing between us on $450 in action. As you might expect I was saying the eff word. I actually hit a regular and a full house in my last few hands and I got out of the session up $300 with Dee losing $200 for a $100 net win, offsetting the earlier loss this afternoon and being even for the day after 10k in action. It wasn't the best situation but my goal is to always break even and we succeeded and still had Dee's free play and match plays to do.

We had enough play for the max on Dee's coupon so went to the players club to have it added.

Next up we went to the roulette wheel to run Dee's (3) $50 match plays. On the first spin we played black and red 5 came up. On the second spin we played odd and red 27 came up for the win. On the 3rd spin we played high and 8 (low) came up. We played the $25 match play on black and red came up again. We lost 3 of 4 match plays and netted a $25 loss. I was NOT amused. That loss actually bothered me more than the VP drain we had just gone through. Between the 2 I played yesterday and the 4 today we only won one of them for a loss because of it.

We ran Dee's free play through single line quarters and turned the $250 into $220 in another round of flush 4 and lack of quads being the downfall. This free play actually made us winners today so all in all it wasn't a bad day but it was far from optimal.

We came up to the room and packed up the few things we used this visit and got ready for the move tomorrow and then watched some TV.
