Day 31
Wednesday July 13, 2016
We were up around 3:45am this morning thanks to American Airlines changing our flight home not once, but twice from a late morning flight to a first flight of the day.

We got ourselves ready and packed up the few things we still needed and were ready to roll.

We had the valet bring up the car and we were off to the rental car facility to return the car with a quick stop along the way to gas up.

Returning the car was quick considering it was 4:30 in the morning. We got back into the lobby and boarded the shuttle back to the airport.

Things at the airport were slow right now. We are flying home on American Airlines. I booked this flight back in April and got a decent price of $251 per person. Now quite the $240 we paid round trip in the winter but not bad being able to fly into the local airport.

Checking in was easy and we were off to security. Things here were the usual crap with people not listening to TSA agents and just doing whatever they wanted including trying to smuggle 1 liter bottles of water through.

Once we were through security we took the tram over to the D gates where we sat and waited for the flight to board.

We pre-boarded so Dee could board without worry and made our way to our seats. This is flight 677 to Philly scheduled to leave Las Vegas at 6:55am (originally our flight was to leave at 9am) and arrive in Philly at 2:34pm for 4 hours and 39 minutes. The captain came on the PA and told us it was only going to take 4:15.

We took off right on time and we were on our way back to the east coast. I made up for lost sleep last night and slept for a good portion of the flight home. Dee did the same. We landed in Philly at 2:15pm. We had to wait for Dee's wheelchair to come up and then got on the shuttle to Terminal F where we'd be connecting.

We got the the other terminal and had plenty of time to get something to eat. I got a cheese-steak from Tony Luke's (it Is Philly after all). It's one good sandwich. While we were eating I could see the monitors and saw the flight got moved from 5pm to 5:20pm. Soon it became 6pm. There was a storm that swept through central PA and NY up to into Canada and a bunch of flights were canceled and delayed, including our plane that was coming in from Wilkes-Barre.

We finally boarded. This is a little puddle jumper plane and they let Dee get on first again. We were in row 3 so everything was easy. This is flight 4945 non stop into Newburgh. It is scheduled to depart at 5pm but now 6pm and take 1:09 to get there. It normally doesn't take that long and the captain came on the PA and told us it would take only 34 minutes.

At about 6:35pm we landed. Once they brought Dee's chair out we were on our way to baggage claim. The suitcase was already on the belt when we got there and we were all set.

After the suitcase came out I walked down to the plant where I work and parked the car for the last month. I drove back up to the terminal to pick up Dee and we were on our the 6 mile trip home.

I stopped at the grocery store on the way home for a few items and then we pulled into the driveway at about 7:45pm as another trip to Las Vegas came to an end.
