Day 4
Monday December 12, 2016
We got up and got ready for our day and headed out. Today's travels are taking us downtown to the Four Queens. We've both got mail offers for 3 nights, $50 in food and $300 in free play. I booked a room for 1 night to get the food credit and to have a place to take a break later on because we have dinner reservations at Hugo's Cellar later today as well.

When we got to the Four Queens the first thing we did hit Magnolia's Veranda for breakfast. Based on reviews of some friends I got the Blueberry pancakes. Dee got the Garden Vegetable Fritatta. The pancakes were excellent and Dee said hers was good. We used some of our many built up comps to cover the bill.

Once we were fed it was time to hit the machines. We started off on my card with the jacks or better machines for dollars. It wasn't a great session. In fact that's an understatement. Dee hit a few quads to keep going but then lost her initial buy in. She fed in a few more bills and hit another quad and hovered on her second buy in and didn't lose anything more. Not a terrible session for her. My action on the other hand was awful. Very few full houses, flush 4 was killing me as was straight 4. Lots of low pairs that didn't connect, single high cards that never matched up and high pairs not improving. It also wasn't uncommon to go 10-15 hands in a row with no pay offs. If those weren't bad enough I didn't get a single quad and dropped a grand in the process for a $1300 loss between us. One of my best plays once again kicked my ass.

I had enough play on my card for the day so switched over to Dee's card to get her play in for the day.

This time around we played bonus deuces for nickels on the 50/100 plays. It was better than before. Early on I got dealt 3 deuces with an ace. I pulled just 2 quad deuces with an ace but eight quint aces and of course every hand that wasn't one of those was a quad. That shot my meter over $1000. From here things swung downward and I was swinging $500-$600 up and down. Just as it got bad I'd get dealt another decent hand to get back into it. One of the better hands for me was a dealt straight flush. Dee had a number of dealt straight flushes and hit deuces a few times too. Oddly even playing 100 play I only hit deuces 5 times (excluding the four deuces plus ace earlier). I chalked this up to pretty weak starting hands. It was a regular thing to go 5 hands in a row without holding a card. I also only got dealt a handful of quads as starting hands.

We each ran our free play through quarter 9/6 jacks or better. My bad luck continued this time around with few hits as I turned the $300 in free play into just $250 cash. Dee was luckier and hit a quad and finished with $292.

We also stopped at the player's club to cash out our points from playing today. We also had some points available from our previous trips so were able to walk out of there with an extra $400 between us. Because of this built up cash back from the past year we were actually able to squeak out a small $100 win for the day.

We were done playing for the day so checked in to the hotel and they had a room ready. It was room 428 which is a newly renovated room. It's got 2 queen beds, a nightstands, work desk, refrigerator, dresser and flat screen TV. It's also got a great view of the roof and the D's parking garage.

The bathroom is small but renovated and they removed the tubs and put in shower stalls with Moen fixtures including 2 body sprayers down below as well as an oversize shower head. The vanity is also new with an odd style sink.

It was good to see the Four Queens renovated their tired rooms but it was also a little disappointing to see they half assed it by using the same old beat to shit furniture that came from the old rooms. That would be ok if they touched the stuff up and repaired it but they didn't. They simply moved it right back in after the renovation was done. I guess you can't ask for too much when they sell rooms here for under $30 many nights of the week.

After our break Dee decided she wanted to play Keno and we had a coupon good for a free game when you buy 5. We picked our numbers and sat and watched as we hit 4 of 6 in our first game for a $4 win. Game 2 we hit 3 of 6 for another $1 and we were officially even. The next 2 games we whiffed and game 5 we scored for another $1. The free game netted nothing either. All in all we won a dollar!

It was time for dinner and we met up with our friend Norm right on time down at Hugo's Cellar. Dee had the Hugo's chicken and I had the 10oz filet mignon. This meal also comes with their “famous” table side salad and sides. Dee and Norm also split an order of snails and when Michael the waiter brought them to the table one of them popped out of the cast iron and flew through the air. Michael spoke to the chef who was going to do something for them after the meal. The meal was excellent as it usually is here.

For dessert we had a chocolate mousse cake compliments of the chef and Dee had a piece of cheesecake that had caramel and nuts on it. The slice that came to the table was about 3 times the size of the samples he had on the tray. We also got the standard chocolate covered strawberries, figs, and apricots that are given as part of the meal.

After dinner we came back here to Treasure Island and wound down with some TV before bed.
