Day 5
Tuesday December 13, 2016
When we got up we started off with a snack in the room and watched some TV.

Once we were ready we headed back downtown again today with a stop at Einstein Bros. Bagels. We both got a bagel and a drink and then moved on.

The plan today is to play at the D. I've got a mailer for $100 free play, $150 in food and two $50 match plays.

When we got to the D we started off with quarters at the Vue bar on the progressives. It wasn't very good and it continued like yesterday for me, quadless until I finally hit a regular quad and quad fours twice. Even with these it was so bad I dropped $50 before we stopped playing and Dee was totally quadless and was down over $150. All of this in just an hour playing quarters.

We had to leave the D for lunch but on the way out stopped by the roulette table to play the match plays that came with my offer. The first one we played on odd and 25 came up. The next match play we put on black and red came up. This worked out to a $50 win.

For lunch we had plans to meet up with our friend AP over at the Triple 7 Brew Pub at Main Street Station. He's been in town for about week and goes home tomorrow. He told us about his trip and we exchanged “war” stories. The food here was standard and did the trick. Dee had a Monterrey Chicken Sandwich. I had a Prime Rib Melt and some Thai Chili chicken wings. This is the first time (other than short tips) that we haven't stayed at Main Street Station. The reason is simply because their offers have gotten worse despite bigger play than ever. There are too many other places offering more for less action so that's where we're going. It's pretty sad when I can stay on the strip and get 6x the free play for 1/6th the action.

We ate and hung out visiting for over 2 hours before we went back to the D. Thanks for lunch Albert!

We left Main Street Station and went back to the D and back to the machines. The roller coaster ride from earlier continued. It seemed everyone was struggling on the bar as the progressive on the quad was growing and the straight flush was approaching double reset. The regular quad was up to $75. Just a few minutes in I hit a quad but it was aces and the standard quad continued to grow. We each hit some quads and Dee hit hers just minutes after the $70+ quad got hit. Dee hit aces not once but twice to get back into it. I stared losing and took a hail Mary on double – double and saw that the bonus quad was nearly triple reset. My hopes were to hit it but a standard quad would suffice. Then I was dealt quad fours and in an odd move in double – double held all 5 cards and did NOT go for the kicker and took down the 1100 coin bonus quad.

We had enough play in and despite the bonus quads, three sets of aces, numerous high progressive quads and a $275 DDB bonus quad we were actually down $150 after doing 10k in action.

The bar tops at the Vue Bar have new card readers and they don't take free play so we went downstairs. I ran my free play through progressive quarter video poker (the progressives weren't anything like they were upstairs) and turned the $100 in free play into $133 cash thanks to a quad on DDB. In total we did 10k here today and with the match play winner earlier in the day we broke dead even.

With our action done we headed out and came back to Treasure Island. Because we had a big lunch we skipped dinner and just had some snacks up in the room.

It was early only being about 8pm but Dee was tired. I decided to go downstairs for a while and shoot dice. I walked up to a game where the shooter was hitting lots of numbers and the hit his point. I bought in and chose to make come bets tonight. Shooter set his point, rolled 2 numbers and then goes out. Grrr, this is a come bettor's worse nightmare. I was the next shooter and did well hitting lots of numbers and 4 points. This got everything back from the first shooter and then some. The table continued to be decent. My chip racks slowly filled up and before long I had more than doubled up. Now I had my keep pile and play pile. Shooters continued to do well and chips continued to come to the players. It eventually started to turn with a few shooters doing the number, number out routine so I colored up. The final tally was walking away with a $1200 victory which offset the earlier video poker losses this week and now puts us ahead for the trip!

I came back upstairs and realized it was only an hour I was playing for so the per hour rate was pretty damn good.

Dee went to sleep and I watched TV for a while before calling it quits.
