Day 7
Thursday December 15, 2016
IF you like reading about stupidity, today is the day you'll want to read about. We were going to start the morning with breakfast at the buffet. Unfortunately it was closed mid week in December for breakfast and lunch. Instead we went to the Beach Cafe. Dee had a veggie omelet and I had corned beef hash and eggs. The meal was standard cafe fare and filled us up. We used my $15 food coupon used reward credits to pay the balance.

After we were fed we were off to the machines. Today we'd be playing on my card so I can be diamond for next year as my 7* life comes to an end of January 31, 2017. I wanted to get to 25,000 points because even though diamond is only 15,000 points in Atlantic City here the bulk of my play is you need 25,000 for free entry to the diamond lounges (that are leaps and bounds over the lounges in other cities). We played the same short pay deuces wild machines that we were on yesterday. I got killed and lost $500 in under an hour. Dee lost $150 in the same amount of time. My biggest issue was not getting any dealt winners.

We went over to the 50 plays and some bonus deuces. I was having the same issues over here going 20-30 hands in a row without getting dealt a winner. Not even three of a kind. I was feeding in bills one after another. I made a short term switch to double – double bonus and had a great starting hand of 3 aces. I popped a few sets of quad aces plus one with a kicker and another hand I hit a royal on for our first royal of the trip. I switched back to deuces for more of a roller coaster ride. I did end up hitting deuces but only one time and got dealt a straight flush. Not just any straight flush though. A natural straight flush. Not just any natural straight flush either. The ultra dreaded A2345. Dee was doing ok and during her play hit 3 royals and numerous deuces. She also got dealt a dirty royal for a nice pay off. Now for the bad news. Even with all of those hit we still lost for the session and lost bad.

We went up to the room and got some of our things and took the lengthy trip down casino drive all of the way to the Aquarius where we'd be spending the next 4 nights. This was booked through our host. We both have mailers as well with mine having $350 in free play and Dee's having $135 in free play. I also got a birthday card from my host offering $60 for my birthday for a total of $545.

When we arrived we saw the Marquee reading “Happy Birthday James D” (it's not for a while yet but as long as it's your birthday month they'll put this up)so snapped a picture of that and parked.

We checked in at the VIP area. We were assigned room 11068 which is a full sized suite. We haven't had one of these in years but we've had consistent good play here and we're well taken care of. These rooms are the double door rooms at the ends of the hallways over looking the river. You enter into the living room area. To the right is a bar area with sink, coffee maker and fridge. Farther to the right is a guest bathroom with a toilet and a sink. There's a large dining table in the area across from the bar. In the center off the room is the living room area with a couch, 2 arm chairs and a coffee table. There's a 42 inch TV and a dresser on the far wall and a work desk to the left of the entrance.

The bedroom is in its own room making this a true suite. The bedroom is very similar to the standard rooms here with a king bed, night stands, chair, work desk, dresser and 32" flat screen TV. The bathroom is about twice the size of the bathrooms in the standard rooms but has no real extras in it other than the extra long vanity area. Both of the rooms have views of the Colorado River but no view of the rest of Laughlin because of the location of the suites at the end of the building. Along with the river you can also see across to Arizona and there's a great view of the mountains. There's also an amazing view of The Home Depot too!

I got our stuff to the room and we got settled in for the next 4 nights.

We went back up to Harrah's after this. This is also where the bone head stuff starts. For some reason I was thinking I needed to do 50k today (when I only needed to do 25k). We started off with dollar video poker and in 20 minutes dropped another $750 between us with no quads and only a few full houses. We went back to the 50 plays and proceeded to get killed again. I was having more of the same issues with a complete lack of any dealt winners. I had way too many hands where my pay off was under 30 coins too. Dee was holding steady while I was pumping in bill after bill.

To change things up I even played some short pay STP and still had the same issue of no dealt winners. This was combined with what seemed to be a real lack of multipliers. Then as always on the rare occasion I got one I'd strike out on it. I did one more session on the 50 plays after this (Dee was still hovering but bleeding at this point) and proceeded to drop another 3 bills in a matter of minutes.

Since this day was a total loss we wandered around playing some penny games and as holds true at a Caesars Entertainment property the slots must all be set to the lowest possible pay out. We hit very few decent spins and only a few bonus rounds the whole time and dropped anther $100 doing this.

I stopped at the players club kiosk and printed off a voucher cashing in $625 worth of comps for $500 in free play. We would run this through later on to try and offset some of the bone head plays and bad luck we had earlier.

For dinner we went to the Range Steakhouse. We had 5:30 reservations and everything was in order. The service her was attentive tonight without being too pretentious. Dee ordered the vegetable Alfredo and I had the porterhouse. Each comes with a house salad. The steak also came with green beans, a carrot and a few potato wedges. The meal was excellent with my steak cooked perfectly to medium rare and Dee said her pasta dish was really good. We used the $65 food coupon that came with Dee's mail offer and covered the $8 balance with points.

When we were done with dinner we ran the free play I collected earlier through triple play deuces. My only hand of interest was getting dealt a quint but from there it got rough. I turned the $200 free play I started with into just $100 by the time it was run through. Dee was a lot luckier than me getting a bunch of wild royals and a set of deuces. She turned her $200 free play into $500. I gave the last $100 in free play to Dee and told her to do what she wanted with it. She chose 10 play deuces. I shrugged and said “fuck it, at this point even if you get dealt deuces we're sill in the hole for the day”. She fed in the vouchers and proceeded to turn the $100 free play into $100 cash by the time she was done (about 2 minutes at $12.50 a hand). In total we turned the $500 free play into $700 cash but that didn't even put a dent into the losses we'd already had.

By now we had the 50k run through the machines and I'd get my bonus of 10,000 points tomorrow. That was when I realized I fucked up and didn't need to play as much as we did. To make things worse, most of the losses we had were during the over play.

We came back up to the room and grabbed the res of our things and left Harrah's after a dreadful day of gaming action. We made a quick stop at Family Dollar to grab an item I forgot to bring with us and came back to the Aquarius.

We didn't play here at all and would make up the short play (no play) day during the rest of the visit. The end of the night found winding down with some TV before we went to sleep.
