Day 11
Monday December 19, 2016
When we got up today we grabbed a quick bit at Duet and packed up the rest of our things as we are leaving Laughlin today.

We headed out around 12:45pm and made the long drive back up to Las Vegas. Today we took the longer route through Nipton, California for a change of pace. This route dumps you on I – 15 south of Primm. Soon we were back in Vegas and then took a bit of a detour to drop off laundry in Henderson.

In a few minutes we were back on the road. The drive would bring us to The Cromwell on the Las Vegas Strip as we start my 7* trip. This trip comes with $1200 airfare, 4 nights, and a $500 folio credit. We chose the Cromwell because we like it here and my regular offers never include this place so it's our only opportunity to ever stay here.

When we arrived we checked in and everything was in order. We were assigned room 612. A bellman walked us up to the room and when he opened the door it was dirty. He radioed down to the front desk and they moved us to 618. This is a king room with nightstands, there is a sitting area with L shaped couch and a small coffee table that's also a backgammon table. There is a huge flat screen TV, a dresser that's actually filled with mini bar carp and an old Victorian style chair. Next to the bed there's an armoir with some more dresser space and some room for hanging things. Next to that is a make up table that also features salon items for sale at high prices. The bathroom has a vanity, a huge shower stall and since this was originally the Barbary Coast back in the day, the featured window in what is now the toilet room. The room has a view of Flamingo Road, Bally's, Bellagio, Cosmopolitan and City Center. One thing I can say though is the rooms facing Flamingo Road are noisy so if traffic and sirens bothers you, avoid the rooms on this side of the property.

We got ourselves set up in the room and went over to Linq to get our monthly free ticket vouchers for a couple of shows. We also went to the box office to pick up some tickets to see Mat Franco and also for Elton John at Caesars Palace on December 28. Unfortunately for some reason the Linq couldn't charge back things to our room so we came back tot he Cromwell and their concierge helped us out. The only other issue was the December 28th show was sold out so we got tickets for the December 29th show. We charged these to the room to start chewing up some of the $500 folio credit that came with the 7* trip. Actually we used all but $10 of the credit.

For dinner tonight we went to Caesars Palace and Beijing Noodle No. 9. We've never been here before but have heard good things about it. Dee got mini wontons with pulled noodles and I got chicken and mushrooms with hand pulled noodles. I thought everything was decent and considering it's on the strip the prices weren't obscene like so many places here are. The only issue here was Dee ordered a vegetable spring roll appetizer that never came (nor was it on the bill). Even though the serving was a decent size I did leave still a bit hungry. That spring roll would have done the trick.

We went to the diamond lounge at Caesars Palace after dinner for coffee and drinks and some desserts.

We came back to the Cromwell and Dee came to the room. I went to the casino to play craps. They've got a great game here with 100x odds on craps. The table started out choppy and then went bad. So bad that a high end player took a marker for $10,000 and before the paperwork even came to the table took another one. Then he took a 3rd one. Yes, he was in for 30k in 15 minutes. The table emptied out and it was just me and him. He got the dice and had a 20 minute roll winning me all of my money back and then some and all of his money back and another 100k on top of it.

I got the dice next and as I started shooting this miserable little prick came to the table and started betting the dark side and making don't come bets. I was glad to wipe out his buy in and see him reach into his pocket for more money.

We continued to play and it was still decent for a while before it turned around. I finally colored up after about 3 hours with a small but welcomed $400 win.

I came back to the room at around 11:30pm and watched TV with Dee for a while and then went to bed.
