Day 16
Saturday December 24, 2016
We started off the day with some breakfast in the room with some of the cereal we still had from earlier in the week.

Next up it was time for some video poker. We started playing a few carnival games for fun with a low limit of losses because the pay tables aren't good. First we tried 6 card video poker. This is a newer game where for 10 coins instead of 5 you get a 6th card on the draw and that makes for some odd hands like two three of a kinds or 6 card flushes. I didn't do well at all but Dee popped a few quads including 2 kicker quads. We didn't play long but saw the swings this game was going to produce so got out with a nice $200 win.

We moved over to three wheel poker where you get to spin a “wheel” if you're dealt certain hands. In order to activate the wheels it takes 2 extra coins per line. This will bleed you to death if you're not getting dealt winners. We played for a while mostly hitting the lowest values on the wheel and took a $100 loss.

Done with the carnival games we went to Spin Poker. This was not good and we weren't hitting much of anything. Few dealt winners, few quads and just not much to report at all other than a $1000 loss.

We came up to the room for a short break which became even shorter than expected because the room hadn't been cleaned yet. Of Course as soon as we sat down housekeeping knocked at the door.

So after the non break we went back to the casino again. We bounced around and played some penny games with little luck on most. That would included Buffalo Gold where I actually hit a bonus. During the bonus I hit nothing and my total after the 8 free spins was $1. I was a bit pissed off at this since it was 60¢ to spin so after a bonus round I turned a whopping 40¢ bonus. All of you fans of Buffalo can keep this shit.

Back to video poker and this time we played triple and five play. It was rough for me but Dee was hovering. It was so bad I couldn't even get a dealt pair of jacks. I did get dealt a 4 card straight flush and nailed not one but two of them. Not just any straight flush. The dreaded king high straight flush. I can't complain though because I held the 9. It was up and down for a while and then out of nowhere I got dealt quad aces for a nice $500 hit. I continued to plug away but still couldn't hit much of anything. Dee was hitting a few quads here and there but not much of anything else. We cashed out with just a $200 win but it was much needed. It just kind of sucked after the dealt aces only winning $200.

For lunch we went to the Promenade Cafe. We both got the ½ sandwich and cup of soup deal. Dee had ham and cheese and tomato soup. I had roast beef and chicken noodle. The sandwiches for ½ sandwiches we bigger than most full sized sandwiches I've had.

We played another round of video poker triple and five play after lunch. This time with few hits again. It seemed to be the theme for the day and a lack of dealt winners and quads was our death and we lost again.

For dinner our friends Anne and Steve came here to Rampart. We went to Shizen their Japanese restaurant. They have a regular menu and also the hibachi style exhibition cooking. Initially the hibachi tables were booked until 8:30pm (it was 5pm now). A few minutes later the hostess said if we wanted to wait 15 minutes they had some no shows that they were going to give a few minutes more. If they didn't show up we'd get their spots. They never showed up so we moved over. This is a low end version of Benihana. Same style and same jokes. I had the filet mignon and Dee had the chicken and shrimp combo. The meal came with a small salad and miso soup, veggies and fried rice. I hate Miso soup so didn't eat it. Overall the meal was really good and we were all pleased. The chef asked if it was a special occasion and we were all quiet. Then Anne pipes up and tells him it's me and Steve's birthday tomorrow. Ugh, now they're going to sing. It worked out as usual though because we got free dessert.

After we ate we went back to the casino and played more video poker. This time we played single line with Anne and Steve. For a change we played ugly ducks. This machines was really slow and on my first hand I dumped garbage and watched as deuce, deuce, deuce, came up but the 4th never showed. The 10 and jack of spades did though for a dirty royal. We played together for about 2 hours and Anne and Steve had to go. We cashed out and between us we were dead even. Not bad for 2 hours of play.

I ran today's free play through a short pay Spin Poker Deluxe machine for nickels and thanks to a hand with a couple of straight flushes turned the $175 in free play into $175 cash.

We came up to the room to wind down and pre ordered our room service breakfast for tomorrow morning.
