Day 19
Tuesday December 27, 2017
We skipped breakfast today because we had plans to meet with our friend Carol for lunch. Instead we just had some snacks in the room.

We just stayed in the room and chilled for a while and decided we'd just play after we ate and get our action in later.

For lunch we had plans to meet with Carol at 1pm at the Rampart Buffet. Mike and Camela also came up for lunch too. This buffet is nothing special but it's easy enough to find something to eat. Today was senior Tuesday here so it was ½ off for over 50 and there was a bit of a wait to get in. I guess that's expected when a $10 buffet is $5 and they let the locals graze all day if they want to! We spent a good amount of time getting caught up with Carol and ate way too much food which is why we've been avoiding buffets this trip.

Carol left and we hit the casino with Mike and Camela. We decided we'd all play 10 play and all sat together at one bank of machines. Me and Mike proceeded to get our asses kicked. No matter what I did I couldn't get dealt winners. I was down over $200 playing dimes before I got my first dealt three of a kind. It was just bad. I'd hold 2 pair and not get a single full house time after time. I'd finally get trips and not get a single quad. Dee on the other hand was doing well and popped a few quads including aces. She also hit a royal flush holding only two cards.

She cashed out and then switched games and tried her luck with double – double. She didn't do well here with just a few quads including aces and lost a bit. She switched to deuces where she proceeded to hit deuces. Then she has the great hand of aces pop up and a few minutes later hits aces with a kicker much to all of our groans. If only she had hit them a few minutes ago. She ended up losing here too.

By now I had busted out of $300 and I also made the switch to double – double. Quads were still sparse as were the dealt winners. I'm actually surprised I was able to play as long as I did. I managed to hit a king high straight flush and I also hit a few bonus quads but the lack of dealt winners just drained me and I dropped $200 more.

By the time we were done Dee was actually up $150 thanks to her $400 royal but I had dropped $500 so we lost $350 for the session. I seems most of the time when we play these dime 10 plays we get our asses kicked.

It was so bad at times with the terrible hands me and Mike were getting I don't know how we played as long as we did. Between the two of us I'm not sure how many times were said that eff word but I know Dee lost track when she said her ears were bleeding.

We all switched to a different bank of triple and five play. I played five play and Dee played triple play. Dee immediately took a nose dive while I hovered around even. She hit a quad and got back up to even and I took a nose dive. I hit a few quads but then would lose 5 straight hand after that. I was glad to finally start hitting quads though. I was still getting my ass handed to me when I hit a royal on line three which really saved the day. I cashed out the ticket and reloaded the machine. Then I look over and see Dee is just getting crushed. She went from over $300 on the meter to under $100 in just minutes. This was looking like one of those days where we hit not one but 2 royals and lose. She made the Hail Mary switch to double – double and hit a quad on one of her last hands. The very next hand she hit quad fours and switched back to bonus. She went on a tear and hit quad fours here and various other quads and got dealt a couple of full houses. Next thing I knew her meter was back over her $300 starting point. I started getting beat up again and was down another $200 when a few bonus quads and regular quads started building me up again. Dee cashed out when she dropped back to $300 and I cashed out down just $100 on my second buy in. In total we made about $850 this session thanks to the royal and well timed quads.

Mike and Camela had to head out and go back to the Orleans where they were staying to get in some play there and to get ready to go home tomorrow. It was good to see them and we had a great time all playing together.

We ran Dee's free play through single line and turned $525 into $463. Not a good run and while she did that I also lost $50 on the machine next to her.

We had our action in for the day so for some fun we found a bank of twenty five plays with Super Times Pay for pennies. So for some fun we played these for a while. I fully expect to lose when I play stuff like this because of the volatility and bad pay tables. Dee was hitting a fair amount of multipliers but I wasn't hitting any which sucks when you're paying an extra coin every line for them. She had a few good hits including a quad with an 8x multiplier. Her best hand was dealt quad 8's. It was a nice $60 hit but damn, where was that when we were playing 10 play dimes? We also hit numerous sets of aces but none with a kicker. I finally hit a few multipliers but they were all weak at 2 or 3x and on most of them I actually lost. We played for a long time and had fun. When we finally quit were actually ahead and showed a combined profit of 40¢!

Since we had a big late lunch we didn't eat dinner but it was no after midnight so went to the Promenade Cafe for something light. They have some good late night specials for $2.99 so we ordered some of those. I had grilled cheese and tomato soup and Dee had the breakfast of 2 eggs, 2 bacon, a sausage, toast and hash browns. It's hard to go wrong at that price and it did the trick.

When this meal was done we came back to the room and watched TV for a bit and then crashed.
