Day 2
Wednesday June 21, 2017
We slept in today getting caught up after yesterday's marathon day. We went to the pool this morning for a while. One thing I hate about some of those hotels is that they don't open the pool areas until 9am. Not an issue today but I think that's a little late considering that it's usually already triple digits by then. After baking for a while we came back to the room to get ready for the day.

The first order of business was to go to Savers so Dee could get some books to read during the trip.

Next we went to the Rio. Dee got an offer out of the blue for her birthday month offering up to 4 nights, $150 free play and 10,500 reward credits ($105 in comps). Even though we didn't need the room the free play and comps were too good to pass up. The first thing we did was have lunch at the Sports Deli. We got and split the Foul Sandwhich (stupid play on words) with chicken, cheese, bacon, avacado and onions (didn't get). It also came with fries. It was a good sandwich and I would get it again.

We checked in at the diamond area and were quickly assigned room 7009 in the Masquerade tower. This is an non smoking room with a king bed, night stands, couch, coffee table, TV, and work desk. It has a roof and strip view and you can see the north end of the strip. The bathroom has a long vanity outside and another vanity inside with a standard tub/shower combo with the dumb little window that leads to the room and toilet.

We wanted to get some play in here at Rio to help Dee get a start to diamond again for 2018. The pay tables here pretty much suck but they do have some $1 games with decent pay tables. I didn't really want to start with dollar action so we started with 7/5 bonus 5 play. It was not good. I'd like to blame the short pay table but I only hit 5 full houses. It was brutal with lots of low pairs dealt but no pay offs too many times. Dee popped aces on her 3rd hand but bled those back and hit them again. The bleed happened again and we quit down $300 with very little action.

We moved over to some 50/10 plays with crappy games for pennies. Not the best option out there but for a little while we'll suffer through it. The results here were not great either. We played a variety of crap including triple double. Between us we hit kicker aces multiple times but still lost $150.

Next we played the dollar games with 8/5 bonus. I started off slow losing most hands but then popped quad nines and soon after eights along with multiple full houses and even a bunch of flushes that came from flush 4. Dee had no luck at all and dropped $200 while I won $100. We had run 10k through the machines but had dropped just over $500.

We stopped at Total Rewards to get Dee's free play voucher and reward credits as well as her June Show Ticket vouchers.

Then we went up to the room for a break mainly because we could. Might as well use it for something!

For dinner we met up with our friends Anne and Steve and we went to the Rio buffet. We used the buy one get one coupons from the Las Vegas Advisor and paid the difference with points. We ate way too much but had a good time with everyone.

After we ate we hit the machines again to wrap up the rest of the play for today and run Dee's free play through. Dee wanted to run her free play through slots and she turned the $150 into $139 cash. We had a few nice bonus rounds that made up for some really bad games. One game we played was King Kong. We started with $10 free play. With 30¢ spins we had 2 hits. One for 2¢ and one for 15¢. Not good.

We left the Rio and came back across the street to the Palms and watched TV before going to bed.

Total win/loss for the day - $400
Total Comps for the day $415
