Day 15

Happy Independence Day To My American Readers
We were up early today and I headed downtown to the D to get my play in for July. Dee stayed back at Rampart to get caught up on rest and to read and relax for the day. The reason for choosing today was because they were offering 5x points for all play. I also had a mailer for $100 in free play, 4 nights (not using), $150 in food, (2) $50 match plays and 2 show tickets. I was also going to use the coupon from the AGC that's good for $5 for every 50 points up to $100 and another coupon for a $25 match play.

I also had plans to meet up with Albert as well as another friend Pat. I've been communicating with Pat online for some time and one of our trips has finally coincided so we were also going to meet here today.

When I arrived I hit the players club and I turned in my coupon and collected my food vouchers. While there Albert popped by to get his vouchers too. From there we went upstairs to the Vue Bar. Being alone and trying to get the action in I opted for dollar action.

It was pretty good for me for a change. I got ahead by $150 without hitting a quad. I plugged along for quite a while on $100 but finally busted out. Still not a quad in sight. I loaded more cash into the machine and continued to do well getting lots of full houses and flushes but no quads. Finally I hit my first quad of dealt fours. Shortly after my second, dealt queens showed up. I hovered nicely for a while and had the meter between -$200 and + $200 the whole time. My quads started coming a bit more often as I hit kings, tens, kings, tens, kings, tens in that order. No other quad would show it's face. I finally had my play in and cleared a $300 win.

I went downstairs to get my free play added and then went off to do my match plays. I chose blackjack today to change it up. First hand I'm dealt a 13 against a dealer 6. She flips over a 6 a dumps a nine on it. Next hand I'm dealt a 14 against her 4. She flips over a 10 and drops a 6 on it. There's another two $50 match plays making it 8 straight losses here. But wait, there's more. I've still got the $25 match play and I'm dealt a 12 against a dealer 8. I hit and bust with a 10 making it 9 straight match play losses at the D and $375 cash down the toilet in the last 2 weeks. I'm not happy about this.

We took a break for lunch and went to the El Cortez. I ordered the turkey Cobb salad on Albert's recommendation. I have to agree with him that it's very good. Albert covered the bill with his comps and I left the tip. Thanks for lunch AP!

After lunch we went back to the D. I ran my free play through a progressive 8/5 bonus machine and turned the $200 free play into $270 cash thanks to quad eighths on my first hand and quad threes later on. Other than those effing match plays it was a good day at the D.

I left the D and went to drop off laundry but the place was closed for the 4th of July. I found that odd but other than it being a total waste of time going out there it was no big deal.

From there I went to the Pinball Hall of Fame. I played some games there for a while and had a good time racking up lots of free games. This place is always a blast.

I left the Pinball Hall of Fame and came back up here to Rampart. Dee was ready to go to dinner with the cousins and I got back just in time. We went to the Promenade Cafe. I got grilled cheese and tomato soup and Dee got the Rampart Club. We also shared some shrimp and wings. The food was standard issue and filled the void but it's not gourmet by any means.

Our friends Jimbo and Katy arrived earlier in the day and we found them playing. We sat down and joined them and played 5 play. Dee was having a good session pretty much hovering. She ran it up over $100 and down $100 but by the time we stopped for a break she was even. I was doing quite well. I hit aces early on and went on a quad tear. I was popping quads quite often including a handful of bonus quads. I even hit quad deuces on 2 lines. I continued pounding away and on a AK off suit hold hit 4 aces again. I cashed out of my machine with a $300 win.

I went to a kiosk to activate Dee's free play and saw that she had 3 vouchers for free Pepsi. We went to where they were handing it out and the sign directed us to the players club. There we were informed they ran out but were giving $10 free play for each 6 pack. SCORE! We didn't really want the soda anyway.

Next up we played some 10 play. Dee hovered as always and I was getting crushed dropping over $200 in about 3 minutes. I hit aces and a straight flush to get back in it and it turned around pushing back up to even for the entire session. Every time I'd get a premium hand I'd lose it in minutes. I was good with being even though. Dee on the other hand was doing well and was ahead by over $200 when she scored her 2nd royal flush of the trip on line 10. She went into a downward spiral after the royal though and dropped $400. It was still good as we got off of the 10 plays with almost $800 in winnings.

We moved to single line for halves and Dee loaded her free play. Turns out the tool at the players club only added $20 instead of $30. Hmm, how to argue this one. I guess we're not and just going to deal with it. The $20 she got is already worth way more than 18 sodas. She ran the $120 free play through with few hits and turned the $120 into $90.

We continued to play for halves but neither one of us were hitting very much. After just over 1k in action between us we both dropped $100 each and decided to quit for the night before we lost more of the royal money.

We came up here to the room and watched TV for a while and then it was time for sleep!
