Day 17
Thursday July 6 2017
Today the cousins are departing so we were up early to help them get their things together and to take them to the airport. Their flight is at noon so I wanted to get them to the airport by around 10am. Traffic was shitty on the way but we got them there with plenty of time to spare. We always have a great time with them and it sucked to see them go but what can you do?

From the airport we went downtown to play at Binion's. We've both got mail offers with $300 free play. When we got there we hit the 8/5 bonus machines and played for dollars. We started off on my card and things were not good. I hit only 2 quads, one was dealt. Dee hit only one quad as well and was feeding in bill after bill. Other than that there wasn't much to report. Between us we dropped $1100 on the play and I wasn't amused that we had just lost almost ½ of what we won yesterday.

While we were playing a local regular (I've seen him many times here) told me that they changed the chip in the free spins. He said he regularly got the $50 free play and now rarely gets it. I can't confirm or deny this but based on our spins the last 6 months it might very well be true.

When I had my play in I went over to the mother lode kiosks and took my swipes. In spin number one I got a 2 for 1 entree in the cafe, spin number 2 got me $10 in the cafe or deli and on spin number 3 I got $20 in the cafe or BBQ. Going back to December that makes 15 consecutive spins where all we got was food or gifts.

We returned to the machines and switched to Dee's card again playing 8/5 bonus for half dollars. This time around it was a bit smoother. In the beginning quads were just not coming. They finally did come as did a dealt straight flush. Dee got dealt deuces. Then in a strange hand I dumped a junk hand and drew four queens. Next I held a lone ace and hit the quad and Dee dumped a junk hand and hit four aces. We were hovering quite nicely. Then in a terrible turn of events, in the last $1000 in action Dee suddenly dumped $300 and I dropped the $100 I was up. So what went from being a slightly up session we ended up down $300 more.

When we got Dee's action in we went back over to the mother lode kiosks and she got a root beer float on spin 1, $10 in the cafe or BBQ on spin 2 and $20 in the deli or cafe on spin 3 making it 18 spins in a row with nothing but food and gifts.

We went back to the machines and ran our free play through at quarters with Dee turning her $300 into $250 and me turning mine into $300. This helped ease the losses a bit but not by much.

We left Binion's and came back up to Rampart to start getting our play in for the day. From this point on we'd be playing on my card and started out with dime deuces 10 play. Not much happened here but we dropped another $200.

We took a break and then returned to the casino for some more video poker action this time around choosing bonus 3/5 play. Again not much to report. A few quads but not enough to keep going. We lost about $250 here too.

For dinner we went to the Promenade Cafe. I tried the turkey dinner and Dee tried the spaghetti and meatballs. I thought the turkey was pretty good and Dee can't go wrong with pasta.

After dinner we returned to the casino for some more video poker. This was another waste of time and money and with not much action dropped another pile of money. By now I was totally aggravated that we'd dropped ½ of what we'd won yesterday.

We ran today's free play through the machines and turned today's $100 into $85 cash.
