Day 23
Wednesday July 12, 2017
We were up before the sun came up today at around 3am. We were all packed and just had to throw our toiletries into the suitcase and we were on our way.

I gassed up real quick at the Chevron on the corner of Warm Springs and Las Vegas Blvd and from there it was back to the rental car facility. Returning was quick considering the time of day it was but the agent there seemed to take her sweet assed time processing the return.

Next up was the shuttle back to the terminal and then on to the Delta counter. I booked this flight back in January for $158 per person. Checking in was easy and we were off to security. Quick and easy here too considering it was 4am although it was kind of busy.

We got through security and made it to the gate with plenty of time before the flight.

When it was time to board Dee got on first and we took our seats. This was originally supposed to be flight 1093 but we were changed. This flight is heading to Detroit where we'll connect. It's scheduled for 4 hours and the captain said it will take 3:30. Also for the first time in a long time we had an empty seat in our row. It was nice to be able to spread out and not be crammed in with a stranger.

The flight was smooth and we landed in Detroit at 12:30 pm. We had a layover of about 2 ½ hours so we didn't have to rush to the gate. While we were waiting we went and grabbed something to eat at Potbelly. We split A Wreck which is turkey, ham, roast beef and salami with cheese toasted. It was a really good sandwich.

When we were done eating we went to the next gate and got ready to board. There were delays though as the incoming flight was arriving from another airport in Michigan that got hit with some bad weather. Originally delayed 40 minutes, then 80 minutes, then 2 hours. Then the plane that came in had some issues but they used a plane in a different gate. It was becoming a cluster fuck but then everything smoothed out and worked out fine. When it was time we took our seats 3c and 3d. This is flight 4282 into Stewart – Newburgh. It's scheduled for 90 minutes. The captain came on and told us it was going to take 60 minutes.

The flight was uneventful and we landed in Newburgh at around 7pm. For a small airport the runway and taxi area is really long so we taxied for a bit and then we were finally at the gate.

We had to wait for Dee's chair to come up and then we were off to baggage claim. Once the suitcase came out I walked down to the plant to get the car and drove back up to the terminal get get Dee.

A quick stop at KFC for one more vacation meal and we pulled into the drive way at about 8pm and this trip was officially over!
