Day 2
Tuesday December 12, 2017
We were up early today and felt good. We felt even better knowing we had just woken up in Las Vegas!

Once we were ready for the day we headed out of the Palms and were off to downtown. I parked over at the D and we walked over to Binion's where we'd be playing today. I had a mail offer with $300 in free play so we hit the machines. It was pretty good. Oddly we were getting dealt lots of straights, flushes and full houses. Where were these last night on the 10 plays? Quads were sparse. I hit 3 and Dee hit 2. Despite this we were up for most of the session. Dee eventually busted out and reloaded but hovered after that even getting back to even. I was up as much as $400. Of course as usual though, the last $1000 in action or so drained everything I was up and then some. What started out pretty good finished up being a loss of $145. Not a horrible result but after being up almost $600 and taking a $700 swing on the last bit of play pisses me off.

We had enough play in to do 3 mother lode spins. On our previous spins we've gone 23 spins since the last time without a spin with free play, free bets or cash. On spin #1 I got a free drink. Spin #2 got me $15 at the Cafe or Deli and on spin #3 I broke the 25 spin loosing streak and got $50 free play.

We went back to the machines and ran my $350 free play through on quarters and turned it into $305 cash because I went through a stretch of over 20 straight hands without a payoff. The net for today's play here at Binion's was + $160.

We wanted to eat lunch at the deli but it wasn't open yet so we went over to the Four Queens. Dee had an offer for $300 in free play. We started off playing 50/100 play bonus deuces to try to save some time. This was a nightmare for me as I never saw a dealt hand with more than 1 deuce. I went multiple hands in a row without getting anything to hold. I even dropped back to 50 play to try and save myself to no avail. After only 2k in action I was down $500. Dee was doing a little better getting dealt lots of 4 card straight flushes and connecting with many of them. She had some swings but nothing like mine. She eventually even hit a real royal for $200. This got her back into it and she cashed out with a $2 win!

We switched to 50¢ jacks or better to get the rest of the action in. Pretty smooth running at first with lots of full houses, straights and flushes. It amazed me at how many were dealt again. I hit a quad and the dreaded king high straight flush. Dee bled a bit but popped a quad and got back into it. Then as is my standard we're almost home free and the drain started again. My positive session turned negative and we dropped another $270.

We went back over to Binion's and ate lunch at the deli here at Binion's. I had a burger and Dee had one too. We used the $15 mother lode ticket to pay the bill.

We went back over to the Four Queens for Dee to run her free play through. She chose jacks for halves again. No major hits but a few full houses and turned the $300 free play into $355 cash.

We left downtown and went to Savers so Dee could get some books to read during the trip.

From there it was the Rio. Out of the blue I got an identical offer that Dee got in the summer for my birthday offering up to 4 nights, $150 free play and 10,500 reward credits ($105 in comps). It was too good to pass up staying right across the street so I double booked it.

We checked in at the diamond area. Things were quick here. I was assigned room 1641 in the Ipanema tower. This is a non smoking room with queen beds, night stand, couch, coffee table, TV, and work desk. It has a strip view and you can see the south end of the strip. The bathroom has a long vanity outside and another vanity inside with a standard tub/shower combo with the dumb little window that leads to the room that has been blocked off, and toilet.

We checked out the room real quick and then stopped off at the Total Rewards booth. I needed to get my 10,500 points added and the $150 in free play. I also wanted to get my free show ticket vouchers for the month.

We decided we wanted to see WOW tonight but there was noting available until Thursday and we'll be in Laughlin by then.

I still needed some points to be diamond for next year so we played 2¢ 50/100 plays. It was an awful session for me with few dealt winners. I dropped $100. For Dee it was pretty a pretty good session with lots of dealt stuff and her second royal of the day. That had us even so we cashed out.

We still needed more play so hit the 8/5 bonus games for dollars. No major hits for me but lots of full houses to stay alive. Dee popped a bonus quad and we had enough action in to get my diamond status for next year (we were short but the tier bonus will put me over when it posts tomorrow). I dropped $100 and Dee was up $100 and we were still even. Go figure, I break even at Rio and get my ass handed to me at the Four Queens!

Next up we decided to run my $150 free play through some penny games for fun. We played 8 different games with results ranging from -$11 to +49 thanks to a nice bonus round on one of the games. When we were all done the $150 free play was $176.04.

For dinner we went to the Sports Deli to use up some of that $105 in reward credits that I got. We weren't that hungry so got some Jerk chicken wings to share and a lemonade. This place is pretty expensive with a dozen wings and a drink coming in at over $21 with tax. Luckily it was comped!

From there we came back to the Palms and just took it easy for the rest of the night with some TV for a while and then we went to bed.

Total win/loss for the day - $50
Total Comps for the day $918
Total Coin - In for the day $29,890
Room(s) $82
Cash/Free Play $800
Food $36
