Day 2
Wednesday June 20, 2018
Today is our 8th anniversary. What a better place to wake up than Las Vegas?

We started our day with some video poker action. The video poker here kind of sucks so we don't play nearly what we normally play. Things here were not good. We got our action in and the result was loss of $500 on only 7k in action. I should have known it was going to be like this when my first quad of the trip was aces, playing jacks or better.

We ran Dee's free play through and turned the $75 into $50 cash.

We stopped by the players club to pick up the voucher that Dee needed to collect her suitcase with. When we got to the store to collect the guy there gave use some little piece of crap that was about 1/3 the size of the advertised offer and probably worth about $10 at Wal-Mart. I disputed it and he said they were out of the one in the offer. I can understand this but I didn't like the way he tried to pass off the crappy item without saying anything.

We returned to the players club and spoke to a supervisor. She agreed the substituted suitcase was inferior. I asked for the to give Dee some free play instead and that request was denied but instead she did offer some alternative gifts. We ended up with a pearl necklace with earrings and a set of Sharper Image copper cookie sheets.

We went to the room to gather our things and headed out. We made a stop in Henderson at 99¢ Only for some stuff and then to Savers for Dee to get a new walker and then we were on our way to Laughlin. The ride here was clear sailing today. The only exception was the construction between Searchlight and the state line.

We went into Bullhead City for a late lunch and at Dee's request to Arby's. Sometimes you just want pressed and formed meat smothered in cheese sauce!

We arrived in Laughlin at 4:30pm and were greeted with the Aquarius Marquee saying Happy Birthday to Dee and Happy Anniversary to James and Dee.

I booked this stay through my host. She's got us booked into a Sunset Suite for 5 nights. My mail offer is for $300 in free play. Dee's is for $95 which is weak. Dee is also getting 25,000 points for her birthday (worth $50 in free play) and our host is setting us both up with $50 in free play for our anniversary. That will give us a total of $545 in free play. We're treated pretty well here but I'm not sure how much longer it's going to be like this with this place having new owners.

Our room was ready when we arrived and we were given room 4130 in the California Tower. It's got a living room with a TV, couch, chairs and coffee table. There is also a small “kitchen” area with a sink, coffee maker and fridge. The bedroom is the same as the regular rooms with a king bed, night stands, dresser, work desk, TV and table. It has a view of what used to be the pool area, the valet area and Casino Drive. You can see a little bit of the river as well.

We got ourselves settled in, took a short break and then it was time to hit the casino. Today we would be playing on Dee's card. We started the day off with some 10-play. Dee was getting lots of dealt winners but I wasn't getting much of anything. I dropped $500 on just 9k in play while Dee dropped only $100.

For dinner we went to The Cove. We split an order of chicken fingers and Kobe Beef Sliders. The fingers were good but the sliders were so small and overcooked they weren't worth eating. For being a green card holder Dee gets a voucher for a free food item and 2 free drinks each week. We used her voucher to cover the sliders and drinks and we charged the chicken to the room.

When we were done eating we hit the machines again. Dee ran her $145 in free play through 9/6 jacks for quarters and did well turning it into $145 cash thanks to some full houses.

Next up we went to the players club and Dee cashed in her points for $400 in free play. We wrapped up the evening by running Dee's $400 in free play through the same 9/6 jacks machine. She ended up turning it into $422 in cash and we ended the day on that note.
