Day 17
Thursday July 5, 2018
When we got up this morning we finished packing up our things and got ready to leave.

I checked the promos and saw Arizona Charlie's was running 7x points. We also like their cafe so off we went. When we got there we went right to the Sourdough Cafe. Dee got the Gambler's Breakfast which is 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage,2 pancakes, & hash browns. I had a turkey pot pie. It was huge with a giant puff pastry crust on top. The food was good and we were filled up.

Now it's time to play. We went to the no smoking room they have here. Dee play 2˘ 100 play DW44. I played 10 play 8/5 bonus. I started out well with an early quad and a dealt flush. That would be all for me though. I blew through 2 bills rather quickly. Dee wasn't getting many dealt winners but was pulling winners to keep alive for a while. I switched to 3 play DW44 and hovered for quite a while. Many times I was down to my last hand and would pull a quint or wild royal to get back into it. I gave up down only $50. Dee had lost $100 on her machine too. Between us we were down $350 and gave up because I don't want to drop a pile of cash at one of our back up casinos.

As a red card holder I get a $3 gift shop credit so we went over there and grabbed some junk food and headed out to our next hotel.

Today we will be heading back downtown and returning to the Golden Nugget. Dee has a mail offer for 4 nights (booked all 4 but staying only 3), and a $100 VISA gift card or free play. She can also earn an extra $25 for every 1500 points she earns with today being an “earn 2x faster” day.

Checking in was standard here. We were assigned room 1971 in the Carson Tower. Usually she can get better rooms than being all of the way back here. I'm guessing because it was not only a promo weekend but a holiday weekend that things were a little tighter than normal. It's not really a big deal though.

This is a handicap accessible room with a king bed, night stand, table and chairs, dresser, flat screen TV and it has a view of downtown and all of the way out to Sam's Town. The bathroom is basic with tub, toilet and vanity and there are safety bars near the toilet and tub.

We got ourselves settled and then hit the casino to get Dee's play in. While we were at the players club I saw a sign that said gift card distribution wasn't until tomorrow. Not wanting to chance playing today and then collecting the card tomorrow diluting her play, we opted not to play today. We'll do that tomorrow.

So the decision is where to play today. We decided on the D. I had an offer of $75 free play, (2) $50 match plays, $100 food, 4 nights and 2 show tickets. I also had the LVA $25 match play coupon and the $5 free play for 50 points up to $100.

The first stop was the players club to get new cards and turn in the coupons. Next was upstairs to the Vue Bar but it was packed so we went back down to the bank of machines near check in. We played 8/5 bonus for halves. Dee was on a downward spiral from the beginning. I was doing well and hovering at first. I hit a few quads but never really got ahead by much. Dee continued to drop but finally hit a quad to stay alive for a while longer. My meter was now dropping. I was dealt 4 to a royal 5 times at this point and other than a pair of kings, got nothing out of them. I was also dealt 4 to a straight flush 7 times and finally hit one with an inside draw. Dee reloaded while I continued to pound away. I hit quad tens, then three hands later hit fives and then a few hands later hit fours. I went from almost busting out to being back into the game. Dee was making a small come back and popped quad fours twice in 10 hands. I went on to hit aces once before we hit the 10k needed to max out the coupon. Dee had lost $200 by then but I was up $50. Not a great result considering the number of quads I hit but between quads I was going 10-15 hands with no hits.

I stopped by the players club to get my $100 free play added and then we went upstairs to the D Grill for dinner. Dee ordered Chicken Parmesan and I had chicken fingers. Dee said hers was excellent for a cafe and my chicken fingers were good. We used some of the $100 food credit for the bill and returned to the casino to run my free play. I grabbed a seat at the progressives for quarters and began to play. Not much happened here and I turned the $175 free play into $150 cash and we were even on the video poker play.

Now comes the scary part, the match plays. I know I only need to win one of the $50 bets to be ahead but I've busted out on all 3 in the past. I found a slow roulette table that had a $15 minimum bet. Yes, $15 on a weeknight downtown at the D. I bought in and played the first on black and red came up and $50 got scooped up. The next I played odd as we always do and 13 came up for the $100 win and a guarantee of at least $25. The 3rd bet was $25 and played on low. The ball dropped into 11 for the $50 win and we finish up plus $100 on match plays. All in all a good evening at the D. I made my way to the cage and walked past another roulette table that had a $25 minimum. Holy shit, are you kidding me? This is the fuckin' D, not Wynn. Even worse is people were playing it.

Since we had all of our play in for the day we came back to the room and wrapped up another night.
