Day 18

When we got up this morning we got ready and hit the machines here to get Dee's play in. We sat down at some 5 play machines. This was a total disaster. I was blowing through money in what had to be near record pace. Never do I recall getting so many hands with zero pay offs. In about 20 minutes I was down 5 bills and that was after hitting 3 quads. Of course those quads were deuces and 2 sets of aces. Dee was getting blasted as well just not as bad as I did. On 7k in action we were down $850 and I was not a very happy camper.

We went to the cage to collect Dee's VISA gift card and that was painless lowering our losses to just $750. Shit! We went over to Binion's where we'd be playing most of the day. Today we'd be playing on Dee's card. She's got a mail offer that has $300 free play. She would also be using the double points (up to 500) from the ACG.

We started off playing the 8/5 bonus machines for halves. We weren't doing well at all and I was going 10+ hands in a row with no pay offs very frequently. I pulled a few quads and Dee got a few herself but they just weren't enough to stay alive. Between us we just dropped another 5 bills and only had 1/3 of our play in and today is turning into a disaster.

We went and did Dee's motherlode spins. On spin #1 she got a free gift which turned out to be a flashlight key chain. It's small but bright and actually pretty nice. Spin #2 was for $15 at the Cafe or Deli like we need more food comps here. Spin #3 was a shocker when it landed on the $50 in free play.

We took a break for lunch we went to the deli. We both got their “famous” burgers and a root beer. Great as always and one of our favorite lunches here.

After lunch we went over to the players club to have the free play from the LVA coupon added and the 2x points.

We returned to the machines to continue our play. Dee was getting crushed and I wasn't doing well either. I scored a few quads to stay alive and then hit a few full houses close together and hovered for a while. Dee was still getting crushed when she hit a quad, got dealt a quad on the very next hand and then got dealt another quad just a few hands after that. Where the hell were all of these quads when we were playing ten play last week? We both cashed out even and decided to take a break and come back here to the room for a while. We still had about 3k left to do and would return later on to do that.

After the break and then went back over to Binion's to continue playing. It was more of the same with both of us going way too many hands with no pay offs. Dee hit quad threes to get back into it. But before she knew it the quad money was gone. I was getting a good amount of full houses to stay alive. We were banging away and Dee groaned. I looked over and see 4 to a royal and a pair of jacks. I yelled “do it” and she did as the spade royal filled in for the $2000 hit. The awful day has turned around with this hit. We might not win a lot today but it's sure going to be better than being down what we were.

While she waited for her cash I continued to play and got dealt four queens and kept playing. Dee got her money and we had to finish up play. A few hands later she got dealt another quad, this time of the bonus variety. So we've had more dealt quads today than the last 2+ weeks combined when we played mostly 3/5/10 play.

We finally had our action through and Dee was up $1800 and I was down $150.

Dee ran her free play through quarter 8/5 bonus and turned the $350 free play into $300 cash. It was not a good run with lots of nothing hands and low pairs.

For dinner we went to Benny's Smokin' BBQ & Brews. I got ribs and Dee got ˝ a chicken. This is one of the best deals in town and pretty tasty too. Dee used comps to cover the bill and we were on our way.

Even though it was still a bit early we came back over here to the Golden Nugget to wind down and hopefully get to sleep a little early tonight so we can get up early tomorrow ad get our play in next door at the Four Queens.
