Day 23
Wednesday July 11, 2018
We decided to go to Rio for a few hours today. Simply because we wanted to get Dee back up to diamond status and their VP is slightly better than it is here.

We started off with 10 play and lowly 7/5 bonus. Dee was holding her own hovering. I started off terrible right out of the gate. No dealt winners, no quads, no nothing. I was feeding in bill after bill. I couldn't even blame the pay table because I only hit a handful of full houses that it made little difference. We both hit straight flushes, Dee hit aces, got 3 quads on one hand on a 3 card hold and then hit a royal on a 4 card hold. By this point I had already busted out of 5 bills and moved over to a single line game with 8/5 bonus for dollars. I got crushed here too and dropped another $200 on less than 2k in action. So between my terrible run and Dee's royal we squeaked out a $200 win at this point.

We switched banks and played Dee's favorite game 50/100 play. These had horrible pay tables but we settled in for 6/5 bonus. Not much happened here other that Dee getting dealt 3 aces and hitting the quad on 8 lines. We dropped another $200 here and were now even on the day.

We were hungry so went to the Sportsbook deli for a late lunch. We split a ham and cheese sandwich and fries. The sandwich and fries were good but pricey.

Next up was a trip to the Total Rewards Center to get my tickets for July. Dee has wanted to see WOW at Rio for over a year now but they have always been sold out on the free tickets. We finally scored those today and got tickets to see the show this Saturday night.

Back to the casino we played some 5 play. This session was the opposite of what the 10 play was. Dee got crushed and I hovered. Dee even hit aces and still dropped 5 bills. I hit a good amount of quads and a bonus quad on 2 lines but was only able to get out even.

We moved back to dollar single line for 8/5 bonus again. This would end up being our best session of the day. Dee hit a few quads and was able to get a small $100 win. I wasn't doing well at first but hit a bunch of full houses a quad and a bonus quad and got out even.

We were close to Dee's 2500 point goal and I didn't want to push it on dollars anymore. It was bad enough we were already down after hitting a royal. We switched to quarter single line to get through the rest of the action. Not much happened here except for me hitting a bonus quad but I still cashed out down $25. Dee hit a regular quad and got out even.

We had the play in and I was a bit aggravated we had hit a royal and lost for the day. On the other hand we did over 25k in action and only lost $425. Normally if we had done 25k and dropped $425 we'd say it was a pretty good run. It just irritates me to hit royals and lose.

We came back to the Cromwell for a short break then we went over to the Cosmopolitan. The only reason for going to here was because I scored some comped tickets (had to pay $13 per ticket service charge) through Goldstar to see Spiegelworld's Opium. This is created by the same people that created Absinthe over at Caesars Palace.

We picked up the tickets at will call. When we entered the Opium Theater our seats were front row center A 18 & 19. We were literally 18 inches from the stage. I was actually worried that as the performers came through the area they were going to trip on the leg rests on Dee's chair.

The show is a mix of circus acts and dick jokes. The base story is we were on a space ship heading from Uranus to Las Vegas and entertainment would be provided. I won't ruin it but there were some unique acts for sure. They also did a fair amount of sexual jokes and said the eff word. So if you're not into that, you've been warned.

The show ran for about 90 minutes. I thought the show was funny and entertaining. Dee thought it was excellent as well. It was well worth the $13 per ticket we paid. I would not however be happy if I had paid the regular price of nearly $100. Look for tickets at the discount booths or websites for much better deals.

We left the Cosmopolitan and came back through Paris and saw Ned the dealer. He was on 3 card tonight. We talked to him for a while and then passed through Bally's and back here to Cromwell.

We were hungry and grabbed a few sandwiches at Eat Well. I got the roast beef dip again. Dee got The Cromwell, an egg sandwich with bacon, cheese and spinach on a croissant.

We came back to the room and I got Dee settled in for the night and then I went back down to the casino for some craps action. The session was almost identical to the previous nights again. I just couldn't get ahead but also wasn't losing much. I played for about 2 hours and won just under a hundred bucks.

One highlight of the session was 2 high level players. One guy was next to me and his buddy was on the other end. The guy next to me makes a $25 pass line bet and backs it with $2500 odds. The shooter hit the point of 6 and he wins 3k. Shooter sevens out on the next point and guy loses $2500. The dice move to his buddy and he tells me he shoots from the dark side and he goes with him. I don't care and told him as long as he hits my numbers a few times I can deal with him winning the don't. He's one of these robotic dice setters. Measuring things up, grabbing the dice like he's a machine and throwing them in as a robotic way as he can. He sets a point of 9, and the guy next to me lays $7500. About 8 rolls later he hits the 9 and between the 2 of them they dropped 10 large. Guy next to me calls for a $20,000 marker, his buddy sets a point of 4 and he lays 10k in odds. Same thing happened again. As we hear winner, 4 and watch him and his buddy lose another 15k between them. They shrugged it off like I do when I lose $25.

I came back to the room about 1:30am which is actually the latest I've stayed up since we've been out here.
