Day 6
Monday December 31, 2018

Oddly after being up until after 4am I was up by 9am wide awake. This will bite me in the ass later on for sure.

I skipped breakfast since I was still full from my late night meal. I got ready and hit the casino.

Today they are running 2x points 8a – 2p so my plan was to get my action in while this was going on. I found a 10 play machine and began to pound away.

It was not good to start with. Quickly I was down $300 and continuing to bleed. I busted out of $500 before I even hit the 5k mark.

I switched machines and things were a little better I got good play in but couldn't grow the meter. This time it was a slow bleed compared to the previous machine that was fast. I dropped another $400 on this machine but got 15k in action. Between both machines I was never ahead, not even by $1.25.

The highlights of the session were the amount of dealt straight, flushes and full houses I was dealt. These actually kept me alive much longer than expected based on the way everything was going. I also hit aces 3 times. One of those was holding a king and filling in aces on the draw. Go figure that one out. Hold trips and get none but hold a king and hit quad aces. I also got my first dealt quad of the trip on multi line video poker (I got one at Binion's on single line a few days ago).

To switch it up a bit I played some single line. This was a pretty steady and flat game. I squeaked out a $100 win thanks to a regular quad and a bonus quad along with a good number of full houses.

I had enough action in for the day and 2x points was just about over so I decided to take a drive to get out of here for a few hours since I haven't left the building since Friday.

My travels took me to Jack in the Box for a late lunch and early dinner. It's crap but it's good crap and we don't have these back home so I load up while I'm out here. Thanks for lunch Mike!

Next up I stopped off at the Hard Rock to see the crew from back when I used to stay and play here every trip. I decided to buy in and get into the game. It was pretty slow in here considering it was New Year's Eve. Most likely the calm before the storm. This table was about as good as it gets. Every shooter did well and made lots of points and numbers. Only one shooter didn't and he went out on his first roll. I was on a roll and had a great run bumping my stack up over $1000 by the time I went out. It continued to stay good. No monster rolls but lots of repeaters so the come bets were getting paid. I was up over $1500 plus what I had on the board when things started getting choppy. I decided to play until I was still up a grand. A few times I was down to my final bet and a point would be made so I continued on. It was starting to get late and I wanted to get out of the area before the NYE festivities started down in the strip area. I cashed out with a $1200 win and once again the old Hard Rock came through and I was up for the day.

I came back up here to Rampart. I picked up my tickets for the NYE party. I originally wasn't sure I was even going to go, especially by myself.

After I got my tickets I hit the craps table. I was betting conservatively to protect the gains from the Hard Rock. It started out pretty bad with a few shooters doing the classic, number, number, out which is a surefire way to kill a come bettor.

The table emptied out and I was left alone but still armed with chips. I went on to roll on a dead game for close to 15 minutes. That's a long time on a full table but on a dead table would be considered a monster roll. Had I been betting like a maniac I would have made thousands. Instead, most of the numbers I rolled I had no money on. I did make 4 passes along with a few come bets though. I had nearly doubled my buy in at this point.

The table got a few more players and things were choppy again. I was going to walk away with about a $300 win but it was my turn to shoot so I stayed. Then I cut my own throat with the dreaded number, number, out losing half of my wins. I still cashed out a winner though and walked with $150 in profits.

It was time for the NYE dinner party so I went over to see what it was all about. It was open seating so I found a table in the corner with only 2 people at it. I'm not a fan of sitting with strangers but there was no other option. I wasn't really hungry because of Jack in the Box but I figured why not. They had a band playing and a wedge salad was served. This was followed by a split lobster tail and roasted beef tenderloin. I don't like lobster (I know, I suck) so I offered it to one of my table mates. She jumped at the opportunity and also used the chance to unload her beef to me. It worked out well all around. The food was ok. Nothing great considering the mass production feeding around 500 people at once. The filet that was originally on my plate was outstanding. The other one that I traded for was awful, dry, and rubbery.

The dinner was followed by dessert of chocolate mousse and cheesecake. Again the mass production showed as both were dry and the sauce underneath had turned into rubber.

I left the dinner and at 10:30pm – 1am I could return for dancing and champagne. I decided I was going to pass on this considering the fact I was by far the youngest person in the room. I'd say the age range ran from me (48) to about prehistoric. I think a few people in this room were close to 300 years old. I think some may have been dead for a few years too.

After the party I hit the 10 plays again. It started out tough but quad aces got me back into it. It turned into a pretty good session and without any major hits I was slowly building the meter. As Dee would say, I was hitting “stuff”. Next thing I knew I was up $400 and still getting in good play. Things started turning and I blew through over $200 in about 5 minutes. I decided I'd lock up the other $200 and walk with a little more profit.

Not wanting to give back any of today's winnings I just wandered around for a while. I wanted to go outside at midnight and watch the fireworks down on the strip when I realized it was only 10:45. With over an hour to go I came up here to work on this report and kill a little time.

At around 11:45pm I went back downstairs. I went out to the parking garage and at midnight the fireworks began. I watched for a while and then came back up here. Not to be a party pooper but I'm on like 4 ˝ hours of sleep and I was shot. Had it not been NYE I would have been in bed 2 hours ago.

Good night and Happy New Year.
