Day 3
Monday June 17, 2019
I slept in a little bit later than normal today because the last 2 days were pretty long.

Once I was ready the plan was to go downtown to the Four Queens. I have a mail offer for $100 in free play and they are also running a promo where for every 100 points ($800 coin in on VP) you get $10 free play, up to $400. It's not quite as good as I usually get without the promo but it's still a good play.

When I got there I decided to play 9/6 jacks for dollars. I typically get my ass kicked here when I do this but chose to take my shot. As predicted I got crushed. Low paired to death had new meaning as just about every hand started with a low pair and I couldn't connect much. It wasn't uncommon to go 10+ hands with no winners. At about the $2500 coin in point I was already down $500 and I was not happy. I reloaded and continued to play and continued to lose. For about every 100 points I earned I dropped another $100. At the 400 point mark I was down $760. I wondered if and when this hemorrhage would stop. I finally had a few full houses and hit a few quads and at the halfway point of 6k in action was down $560.

I took a break for lunch and went to Magnolia's Veranda. I ordered my usual bowl of gumbo. I have heard reports that it had been changed. I have to agree. While the changes aren't as drastic as I heard, the broth was much looser and more oily than it was in the past. I also noticed there were a lot more little bits of red peppers in it than I remembered.

After lunch it was back to the jacks. I played a different machine and it started out pretty good with 5 full houses in the first 15-20 hands. I even got dealt quad sevens and was only down about 2 bills. Then, the bleed happened again. Just like before I couldn't hit a thing. Before long everything I'd gained earlier was gone and then some. Overall I was now down over 8 bills. It smoothed out a bit and the meter grew back slowly. VERY slowly. I was nearing the end of my play now. This is where I got worried. Typically on the last bit of play I need to do I tend to get killed. Not just here but, everywhere. Oddly just the opposite happened. I hit an unusual amount of full houses, and hit 3 quads in the last 50 points I needed. Amazingly while I was still down, it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be.

I finished up my play down $300. Not ideal but reasonable enough considering I still had free play to run.

A quick trip to the players club to have my free play added which was $150 had me back at the machines to run it through. I chose to run it through halves and turned the $250 in free play into $350 cash! This was in thanks to a quad and more full houses. Holy shit, I got out of the Four Queens with a $50 win after being down over $800. What a comeback.

I left the Four Queens and went over to the Hard Rock to see the old crew on the craps table. I also had a mailed offer good for a $75 free bet. The table only had one other player on it so I bought in. When I got the dice I noticed the other guy move his bet to the don't. Oh how I hate don't bettors. Neither one of us could shoot more than a few rolls. I got paid on some of my come bets but for sure was losing more than I was winning.

I was getting ready to quit down almost 5 bills and a new player come aboard. He got the dice and managed to roll for about 15 minutes. Not only did I have the 5 bills back, I was up when he went out.

Next up I got the dice and replicated his roll. How quickly things change on the craps table. I was up quite a bit now and the next shooter didn't do as well but he did hit a few numbers and we made money on him (except for Mr. Don't). The dice came around the table again but it wasn't as good this time around. I saw the writing on the wall and cashed out with a $900 win. I thought I had $1000 but miscounted one of my stacks. No big deal, I'm happy with the $900.

I still had my $75 bet and took it over to a blackjack table. I was dealt a 17 against a dealer 8. I thought I was done for but the dealer didn't have a 10 in the hole, he had a 5. I was not thrilled that he had a 13 and my vision was an 8 coming out of the shoe. Thankfully my vision was wrong as he painted the 13 with a 10 for another $75 win.

I hit the cage and came back up here to Rampart. I still needed to get today's action in here and run my free play through the machines.

First up though was dinner at the deli. I went with the same Italian Dip as yesterday and again ordered it with no shallots. So I unwrap the sandwich and what do I see? Son of a bitch, a pile of shallots on it. Can't anyone get a simple order right? Seriously. The cashier even repeated it to me when I said it. Anyway I flicked most of them off and the sandwich was still really good.

Now it was off to the casino. I started off with 10 play. It was up and down and just a lack of dealt winners and few quads. Nothing major to report but I lost $450 on 17k in action. Not a terrible result but I'm looking for win as they've been far and few between on video poker.

My next move was to the kiosk to play the game they were running today. You picked eggs in a hen house and the first thing you matched 3 of you win. I was amazed when I got the $25 in free play. Normally I'd win food in a case like this.

Next was a stop at the players club to have $10 free play added to my account from the online game I've been playing. That combined with my $175 for the day gave me $210.

I chose to run it through half dollar bonus poker single line. It was not a good run as I was having flashbacks of this afternoon at the Four Queens. Very few hits and way too many consecutive hands with no wins. I turned the $210 into just $170.

Next up it was Dee's turn. She still had a good amount of points on her card so it was time to cash them in. I chose to run them for free play on a single line machine that she hit a royal on a few years ago while running her free play. I cashed in $200 worth of points for her. It started out OK but then got like my session with few winners. I turned her $200 free play into just $155.

There was still $6 worth of points in her account so I ran it through one of her favorite slots and turned it into $3.

This wrapped up gaming for the day and I came up to the room to get ready for tomorrow morning's trip.
