Day 2
Saturday December 14, 2019
Got up this morning and took it easy. I have no major plans today as far as gaming goes. I started off with breakfast over at Giada at Cromwell. I was supposed to meet with my friends Gary and Cathy but they had to cancel so I went alone. I ordered the Sunrise Polenta Waffle with pancetta, chives, maple syrup, béchamel & two eggs. It was really good.

After breakfast I came back to the room to get caught up on some e-mails and stuff before I headed out.

My first stop was over to the Hard Rock to cash in the chips I had been collecting for the last 20+ years. After some long thought and realizing how much money I had tied up in them, combined with the fact that the Hard Rock will no longer exist after the Super Bowl, I decided it was time to let go of the collection. I'm basically getting killed on this between the prices I paid for many of these chips and the fact the Hard Rock chip market fell apart back after the recession 10 years ago.

I cashed in and walked away from the Hard Rock cage with a nice chunk of cash.

Being at the Hard Rock it was one last chance to play a little craps here and talk to the old gang before they close in February. I also have a $50 free bet from a mail offer I have. The session was not good. Making come bets was killing me with too many shooters rolling 2 numbers and going out. I switched to place bets and things smoothed out a bit. Very few points were hit and I could tell where this was going. I escaped with just a few hundred lost. I moved to blackjack to use my $50 bet and the dealer pulled a 19 against my 18. I played a bit more and it was win one, lose one. I caught a few doubles but then the dealer caught a few blackjacks so I cashed out even.

They are currently running a promo giving away “Farewell” T Shirts so I swiped at the kiosk and got my voucher. It's not every day you get a $300 t shirt! This will go well with my collection of $2000 sweatshirts I have at home from this place.

While I was on the kiosk I realized I still had some old points so I hit a slot to cash them in for free $20 free play. The game was Texas Tea and the $20 became $6. Eff it, it's free money.

I left the Hard Rock and took a minute to remember all of the good times I had here over the years. Even though it hasn't been the same for years, it won't be the same without it either.

It was still early so I decided to take a drive out to M. I have a mail offer with $30 free play and a free buffet. Dee also has a mail offer for $75 free play. The plan was to get some play in here and possibly get my mailers back up and to have lunch at their buffet.

I started off with airport deuces for 5 play. It was just awful. No good dealt winners and drawing to nothing. Dropped 5 bills and less than 5k in action.

I switched to another bank that had 10 play and instantly did better even hitting a set of ducks. A few dealt quads and a good number of dirty royals and I was even on the day plus $6 in profits.

For late lunch/early dinner I went to the buffet using the free one with my mailer. This is still one of the better buffets out there. I have planned on limiting my buffets this trip so having a buffet on day two isn't a good start! It was well worth it though.

Next up was running the free play through. This was not good. I turned my $30 into $11 and Dee's $75 in $39. Didn't hit a winning hand the whole time. Best I had was a push.

I left M and took the drive out to Green Valley Ranch. Jimbo and Katy are there so I stopped in to see them. They showed me their suite there and we hung out for a while then went to play. I didn't want to do much action there so I played a little bit on Jimbo's card. I chose 8/5 bonus triple play and it started out rough. I was down $70 just like that but a straight flush got me back into it followed by 2 quads. I went from being down $70 to being up $40. I played a bit more and cashed out with a small $20 win. I'll take it.

We made plans for tomorrow and I headed out. The ride back wasn't bad considering it's a Saturday night.

I came back to the Flamingo and wrapped up the evening with some TV.
