Day 5
Wednesday February 26, 2020
I got up this morning, got everything together for the move later on.

I went over to the Four Queens for some video poker action. I had the identical offers at 4Q as I had at Binion's with $300 in free play, 3 nights and $50 food credit.

Unfortunately the ticket system and the players club was down. Even worse is the first machine I played everything worked. I racked up 3 points and now have to worry about my future offers. I've already e-mailed my host about this. Hopefully he can get this situation fixed before the summer offers come out.

I came back over to the D, grabbed my stuff and headed out. Today's move takes a 90 mile drive down to Laughlin. The ride was smooth sailing.

I pulled into the Aquarius at 11:20am where I'd be spending the next 4 nights. I booked this through my host back when I was here in December on an offer of KISS tickets and complimentary nights. I also have another mailer with $440 in free play.

Checking in was quick in the VIP area and I was assigned room 6139 in the California Tower. This is a Sunset Suite which is the smaller suite at the street end of the hallway. It's got a living room with a TV, couch, chairs and coffee table. There is also a small “kitchen” area with a sink, coffee maker and fridge. The bedroom is the same as the regular rooms with 2 queens, a night stand, dresser, work desk, TV and table. It has a view of the parking garage and Casino Drive. No river view whatsoever.

I got my stuff up into the room and it was time to go eat lunch at Cafe Aquarius. I noticed they had a new menu which of course means new, higher prices. Way to go Golden Entertainment. Cut comps and then raise prices so the comps don't go as far. I tried the pot roast. I had this in the past and it was really fatty. Today it was much better.

Now it was time to play. The first order of business was to swipe my card to get my multiplier. I got 3x on slots and tables and 2x on video poker. Like yesterday I was not happy.

I played 10 play video poker. It was not good. Only a few quads and no dealt straights, flushes or full houses. I dropped about 5 bills on only 4k in action.

I took a break for a while and went for a walk out in the river walk from here down to the Golden Nugget and back.

I came back to the Aquarius and tried another round of video poker. This time around things were a little better. I hit aces 3 times, 2 straight flushes and got dealt some winners. The problem was quads ere far and few. Dropped another pile of cash here but at least got some play in.

For dinner I went to Cafe Aquarius again. I ordered chicken fingers and tater tots. The service was unacceptably slow. The food was good but really poorly presented.

I ran my free play through single line dollars and turned the $440 into $410 cash. Thankfully a few full houses and flushes saved me because I started off losing 10 of the first 15 hands.

I came up to the room to wrap things up for the day and watched TV before going to sleep.
