Day 6
Thursday August 20, 2020
I went with my normal morning eating in the room and then over to Harrah's to hit the machines. Today is the start of a promo they call “You Play, We Pay”. I get a guaranteed $65 free play and can play up to get up to $400 more in free play. The problem is you can't collect until Saturday. Originally I was going to stay here the days of this promo but the hotels were close to “sold out” and I didn't want to be in competition with ton of high end players fighting over the same machines. Instead I'll play here today and tomorrow before I leave to max out the promo. It's also going to require a drive back up here on Saturday from Reno. I guess $465 is a fair trade off for about 3 hours of time.

Today they were also offering a progressive reward credit multiplier if you played each week. This is my first week so I got 3x and slots and video poker.

I started pounding away. It was rough. Really rough. No dealt winners at all. I wasn't even getting low paired to death, I was getting single high carded to death. Down 4 figures in no time I was considering just pulling the plug and doing lighter play today and finishing the rest tomorrow. Just as I thought that I hit a royal flush on a 3 card hold. It wasn't enough and I was still down over $600 when I hit it. Play continued and just continued to be bad. I had to take a break after this and decided to just finish the play later.

I took a walk to the other casinos and played some penny games. Hit a few decent spins and a few bonuses. Got ahead a little bit but nothing even close to what I was down on VP.

For a late lunch/early dinner I went to the American River Cafe. I tried the Chicken Parmesan with spaghetti. The mound of pasta they gave was obscene. The chicken was quite good. Not as good as a real Italian place but good for a cafe. I devoured most of the pasta. Dee would have been excited, pasta was her favorite and she could and and would have finished this.

I went back to the machines and decided to change things up a bit. I decided on deuces instead of jacks. This was good to start. I got dealt some winners and hit deuces early on as well as getting dealt lots of hands with 2 deuces to start. Of course as would be expected, I was getting dealt natural straights, flushes and full houses. I was up and down going through some swing but deuces kept coming. One set came when I dumped a garbage hand on the draw. Those are always fun. I finished all of my play for today and what I had planned to do tomorrow. I did this for 2 reasons. I had leveled off during the play and was up playing deuces. I was also getting 3x reward credits. So I opted for those instead of the bonus tier credits for tomorrow's action. Plus, I don't have to play tomorrow before I leave.

I took a walk over to Hard Rock again to redeem another one of those vouchers for $25 in free play. I turned the free play into $32 cash. I hit a few other penny games while I was here too with nothing much happening.

Back over at Harrah's I went downstairs to the arcade. I played a few games for a while and wrapped up the day.

I came up to the room and started getting ready for the move tomorrow.

Total coin in for the day $79,750
Total win/loss for the day - $1,113
Total Comps for the day $217
