Day 27

I was up early today to finish packing up and to get ready for the trip home. It's hard to believe I've been out for for almost a month already.

I grabbed my things and headed out. My first stop was to the bank. This was no walk of shame. This was to make a deposit!

All that was left to do was to fill the gas tank on the car and bring it back to the rental car facility.

Returning the car went well. Everything was correct on the bill and it was off to the shuttle.

I boarded the shuttle to the airport and in just a few minutes I was checking in for the flight and dropping luggage. It was smooth here.

Next up was security and things were not smooth here. They had 2 x ray machines open, and 1 agent checking ID's. They finally opened up a few more lines and things started to flow smoothly. I'm still amazed at how people still need to be told the same things over and over.

After security I took the tram to the terminal and found my gate. I was short on time thanks to the cluster fuck known as security. Boarding started as soon as I got to the gate.

The boarding process was the usual crap. People just don't listen. Is it really that hard to stay seated until your row is called?

I found my seat, 29B, the dreaded middle seat and plopped down for what was scheduled to be a 4 hours and 52 minutes. This is flight 1626 non stop to Newark departing at 12:15pm and arriving at 8:07. The captain announced that it was only going to take 4:17.

We push back and taxied to the runway and then we were off. The flight home was pretty good. Just a few bumps along the way. As usual I spent most of the flight switching between playing games on my phone, watching TV and sleeping.

We landed 25 minutes early and it took a while to get to our gate. From there it was off to baggage claim to wait an unacceptable amount of time for the luggage to come out.

Once I had my suitcase I went up to the monorail and to where the rental car companies were located. Tonight was a little different. Normally I'm renting with Avis but after the bullshit I went through back in July, I booked with Hertz. The price was about the same and I was hoping they had their shit together more than Avis did.

I booked this back on August 3rd and got a “large sedan” as they now call it (it's a full sized) with a base rate of $68 and all in for $101 using a discount code through my job. When I arrived my name wasn't listed but I was told to take anything form the Gold Aisle.

I took a Jeep Compass with 25,000 miles on it in pretty good condition. I gave the car a quick inspection and I was on my way.

I made a quick stop at the McDonald's drive through and then made the rest of the drive home. Nothing much happening on the drive and I pulled into my driveway at 10:40pm as another Las Vegas adventure came to an end and a 2 week quarantine was about to begin.

Final Thoughts

• This was the lowest round trip fare I've ever gotten
• Newark airport was quite dead and creepy
• The flight to Las Vegas was one of the smoothest ever
• I'm glad I finally got to Tuscany Gardens
• Having dental issues on vacation sucks
• I enjoyed my time in Lake Tahoe and Reno
• I drove around Lake Tahoe for the first time ever and enjoyed the ride
• Silver Legacy has the slowest elevators ever
• The parking garage at Silver Legacy sucks
• I really enjoyed Laughlin this trip
• I was disappointed in the food at Passaggio at Tropicana Laughlin
• I was even more disappointed in the Prime Rib at the Hickory Pit
• Las Vegas as a whole is fairly slow
• Service cuts and restaurant closings continue to happen
• I did pretty good on penny slots which is strange
• I played 594,000 hands of video poker this trip
• I hit 13 royals this trip (8 @ 25˘ - 1 @ 5˘ - 2 @ 10˘ - 1 @ 2˘ - 1 @ 1˘)
• The weather in Las Vegas was hotter than average
• The weather in Lake Tahoe was perfect but chilly in the 40's in the overnight & early morning
• The weather in Reno was fairly hot for this time of year
• Reno & Tahoe had air issues due to smoke from CA wildfires so it always looked cloudy & foggy
• This win brings my Las Vegas record to 38 – 23 – 1
• The next trip is scheduled for December

• Eff you to Hickory Pit at Edgewater for serving bland prime rib
• Eff you to the guy at Aquarius that jumped ahead of 10 people and got in the elevator
• Eff you to the same guy that was at the cage being a big impression builder gloating that he was a big winner at Edgewater earlier in the day
• Eff you to Edgewater's sports book for shutting the TVs off at 8pm during playoff games
• Eff you to the guy that gave play by play, coached, cheered and talked to himself about the hockey game at Aquarius
• Eff you to Arizona Charlie's Decatur for closing the gift shop at 8pm on a Saturday
• Eff you to JW Marriott housekeeping for calling my room asking if I want service when the Do Not Disturb Sign was on the door
• Eff you to Silverton for running out of chips at Sundance Grill
• Eff you to Four Queens for having a broken TV in the room
