The Potter Fanatic

Of course when in a magical place like Hogwarts you’re
going to find very interesting magical gizmos. Here’s a
list of the most fascinating ones in the 4 books!

Broomsticks Self-explanatory I believe. They’re usually used in
Quidditch games, but first years at Hogwarts aren’t allowed to
use them. The best you can get is a Firebolt, the kind Harry
has.

Floo Powder used to travel through fireplaces, you sprinkle
a little floo powder in the fireplace, then step into the
green flames and think of the address at which you wish to be.
A easy way to travel.

Goblet of Fire this awakens for each Triwizard Tournament.
It’s a wooden cup filled with mystical blue-white flames.
Those wishing to compete in the tournament put their name on
a piece of paper in the cup and when it’s decided who the
Champions shall be it spits out the papers with the names
of the chosen.

Invisibility Cloak A silvery gift from Dumbledore that
belonged to Harry's father. Albus thought Harry would like
to have it. It comes in very handy when sneaking around at
night.

Marauders Map Once when the Weasley twins were hauled into
Filch’s office, they noticed a cabinent labeled Confiscated
and Highly Dangerous
. Within it they found a tattered bit
of parchment. It doesn’t seem to be much, but when you hold
your wand to the parchment and say “ I solemnly swear that I
am up to no good
.” the page will then fill with a map of
Hogwarts, showing you names of the people in the castle and
where they are. It also shows you some secret passageways,
very wonderful.

The Mirror Erised A magnificent mirror. Very high, with
a gold ornate frame that rests on two clawed feet. Around
the top of the mirror, is the engraving “Erised stra ehru
oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi.
” When one looks in the mirror,
they see their deepest desires. Some have wasted away before
it wondering if what they saw could ever be true.

Omnioculars Used at Quidditch matches to replay frames,
slow motion, go forward etc. It acts like a television
remote! They’re like a pair of glasses with knobs and buttons.

The Pensieve this is a weird gizmo belonging to Dumbledore.
It’s like a large bowl with a silvery transparent liquid.
It’s made up of Dumbledore’s thoughts and memories. It helps
him to drain his head when it’s full of thoughts. You can also
visit the memories and watch them unfold.

Portkeys Portkeys are ways for large groups of people to
travel without getting noticed. You merely touch the object
and you’re transported to the place it leads to. It’s usually
something Muggles wouldn’t pick up, like old rubbish and trash
lying around.

Remembrall seeming to be a large marble with what appears
to be smoke. When you’ve forgotten to do something it turns
scarlet red.

Sneakoscopethis tells you when someone untrustworthy is
around. It lights up and spins to alert you. But it’s not
very reliable. It’s mainly for tourists.

The Sorting Hat the Sorting Hat is what is used to divide
first year Hogwarts students into one of the 4 houses,
(Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff.) It sings a
song to begin the Sorting ceremony, (every year it makes a new
song) and then each student is called to a stool and the
Sorting Hat is place on their head and with a shout it announces
where each student belongs. This also helped Harry in the
Chamber of Secrets- it delivered him the sword to help him
kill the basilisk.

Time Turner This little gadget helped Hermione when she bit
off a little more than she could chew. The Time Turner resembles
an hourglass. It acts like a time machine; it’ll take you back
a few hours to do what you need to.
