A.J.: How do you know this, Robin? I mean, I'm sorry that you and Jason broke up, but I'm not going to be somebody's revenge, ok?
Robin: A.J., I wouldn't make this up.
A.J.: Then what makes you say that Michael's my son?
Robin: Because Jason told me.
A.J.: When?
Robin: When I first came home from Paris. Carly lied and she asked Jason to go along with it, and he did. He thought he was protecting this defenseless child from the Quartermaines.
A.J.: Protecting my child?
Robin: That's right.
A.J.: From me?
-
Robin: Nobody had to tell me that that boy wasn't Jason's. I knew he wouldn't cheat on me. But no one else seemed to question it.
A.J.: Well, I questioned it. And I didn't let it drop until i found out Michael's blood type -- which, by the way, was identical to Jason's, not mine.
Robin: That I can't explain. I'm just telling you what I know.
A.J.: If it was all a lie, then Jason did a hell of a lot more than -- than go along with it. I confronted him. Tony Jones confronted him. I asked him point-blank.
Robin: Then he didn't answer you point-blank.
A.J.: He told me that he and -- i don't remember exactly what he said, but --
Robin: He and Carly -- they had a thing, ok, but that was a long time ago, before I went to college, when she first came to town. Jason broke it off. And even though she kept throwing herself at him, she somehow had managed to convince him that they were friends. Apparently, she was more interested in Michael before he was born because you and Tony had threatened to sue for custody, so she went to Jason and she begged him to help her or she would lose her son. If you had asked Jason before if Michael was his son, he would've said no. I know it. It's just in the past few months that he's begun to say it -- because it's true.
A.J.: Excuse me? You tell a lie long enough, that makes it true? Carly could swear by the setting sun that she's a virgin, and that won't make it so. And it won't make Jason Michael's father, or a decent, honest person out of either one of you. It's kind of splitting hairs, don't you think -- calling Carly a liar, and Jason isn't? And what about you? You and Jason are worse than liars. You're hypocrites. And what makes you so different than Tony, except he got caught?
Robin: I have no defense. I didn't know what to do, ok? If -- if someone cheats on their wife or lies to their boss, do you just run and tell?
A.J.: Well, what if you see someone stealing a child?
Robin: I know. I just -- i didn't think it was my place to want to fix everything?
A.J.: Whose else would it be?
Robin: Michael is happy.
A.J.: you were raising my son!
Robin: He was happy, ok? He -- i knew that it would hurt Jason if you lost him. But now i know -- you know what? -- It's going to happen no matter what I do because Carly feels like she has to punish him, and she's going to do it. I don't know what excuse she'll use, but she will. And the longer she waits, the more it's going to hurt him.
A.J.: What about me? What about what I'm feeling, robin? My world was turned upside down last year, trying to fill a void that drinking left. I chose E.L.Q. Because what else did I have? Do you have any idea how different my life would be had I known then?
Robin: I'm sorry.
A.J.: "Sorry"? You're sorry?
Robin: I'm sorry.
A.J.: You -- you helped Jason isolate Michael from his own family. You kept his real father from getting within 10 feet of him! You -- you robbed me of a year of my son's life. I knew jason hated me, but you? I --
Robin: I don't hate you. It wasn't done to hurt you. Jason didn't know that he would become that attached to Michael. It just happened, like your sobriety -- day by day. Then suddenly there was -- there was a year's worth of days, and Jason loved that boy more than anything in the world.
A.J.: No. No, robin, i won't accept that. If he's my son, then he's mine to love.
-
[door closes]
Carly:(thinking its Jason) Bobbie's not here, so what's she going to need with these magazines, right? Michael will love the pictures i found this really great. Article on, guess what -- Africa. Oh. Uh, you're back?
A.J.: No sooner you think you're rid of me, I’m back.
Carly: You know, I -- actually, i don't mind you that much anymore.
A.J.:(sarcasticly) Warms my heart to hear it.
Carly: But, you know, Jason is on his way over here, and he's going to help me pack up this stuff, take it to the penthouse. So unless you want one of those scenes where you both show your teeth and paw the ground --
A.J.: you can go wherever you want, Carly -- the old penthouse, the new penthouse, the outhouse, jail, nut house, hell -- anywhere you want -- but you're not taking my son with you.
-
[They both enter the room after AJ had searched the house for Michael]
Carly: Do you believe me now? Michael is not here.
A.J.: Where is he?
Carly: Not that it's any of your business, A.J., but he's at the penthouse with his father.
A.J.: Cut the snow job, Carly. I know the truth. Robin told me.
Carly: Robin told you what, exactly?
A.J.: It all makes sense. You were pregnant with my baby and you knew it. Then Tony and I threatened to take him away, and when your laundry cart caper didn't work out, you turned to Jason.
Carly: Oh, my god.
A.J.: You turned to Jason, who obviously hated me enough to go along with whatever scheme you cooked up against me.
Carly: A.J., would you just listen to yourself here?
A.J.: But I never bought it.
Carly: I slept with you one time, one night.
A.J.: I never bought it. You remember? I never did. Because there was no way that you could have this little affair with Jason under Tony's nose -- or under mine, your watchful neighbor, your confidant. But then Jason, the man who never lies, stepped up, backed up your story. And then when Michael's blood type was identical to his, which is still a mystery -- but I'm tell you right now -- there is no way that you and Jason are going to fake your way through a court-ordered paternity test.
Carly: Fine, A.J. If you want to humiliate yourself completely, if you want the whole entire town to know how completely jealous you are of your little baby brother, then you go ahead. You go to a judge. You ask for a D.N.A. Test. Make a fool of yourself. I don't care. You need me to tell you that Robin is lying?
-
[AJ picks up one of Michael's toys and looks at it]
Carly:[grabs the toy away from him]Don't. Can't you tell when you're being used, A.J.?
A.J.: For what, supposedly?
Carly: Obviously not. Jason and Robin broke up.
A.J.: Yeah, so Robin told me that I'm Michael's father for spite?
Carly: Exactly.
A.J.: Oh --
Carly: What? Look, she knew from Jason. That's what you thought before he was born. And you are doing exactly what she wanted you to do -- you're staking a claim and you're threatening to get the courts involved.
A.J.: Nice try. Robin's not the vengeful type.
Carly: Oh, really? Why don't you ask her about me sometime and wait and see how grown-up and adult she sounds. Look, this is about me. She's going after me, A.J. You know Jason. Get the courts, get the newspapers involved. He doesn't give a damn. But it's going to be me whose name will be dragged through the mud -- Carly Benson. Everybody will hear about the slut extraordinaire -- slept with three men at the same time, etc., etc., yada, yada. Not that it's a bad way to ruin my life for a few months. But it's going to be an exercise in futility for you.
A.J.: You're lying. Don't get me wrong -- you're good at it, maybe even better than you used to be. But don't you tell me about Robin, because I know her. I grew up with her. You know, and now it's starting to make sense. I mean, now I understand why she went back to Jason -- because she knew that he didn't cheat on her with you, and Michael wasn't his. Which is why Jason was so desperate to keep me away and you were so willing to see me at Ferncliff and since you've been home. Carly, you've been turning the screws on him. Because of the fact that I am Michael's biological father -- you've been keeping him in line with that information. Now, don't get me wrong. I mean, I love the way that you're working Jason the way you have me in the past, but I'm not going to let you use my son to do it.
[Telephone rings- It’s Jason calling Carly to warn her about AJ knowing the truth!]
Carly: He is not your son!
A.J.: I'm not taking your word for it. I'll prove it.
[Phone rings]
Carly: All right.
A.J.: Yeah. And then I'm going to take my son home with me, where he belongs.
-
Carly: A.J., I'm warning you here, ok? I was starting to trust you. And I'm willing to consider what you and the Quartermaines might be able to do for Michael, and it's not out of the question that I could bring Jason around, too, in time. But, man, if you start this paternity thing again, you are going to push every button that Jason and I have. Mark my word, you nor the rest of the Quartermaines are ever going to see Michael again before his 18th birthday.
A.J.: Oh, please. Oh, I know you way too well. You start talking "cooperate" is a sure sign you're desperate. Which I can completely understand why. Because what kind of mother gets committed to a mental institution and leaves her son with a criminal instead of his own father? Carly, it'll take 10 minutes for a judge to declare you unfit to raise a chia pet, let alone a child.
Carly: I would be unfit if I let you anywhere near my son, and his father agrees. You can delude yourself all you want, but Jason is Michael's father.
[Jason walks in]
A.J.: Speak of the devil. Which is how I look at you more or less, Jason. Oh, but wait a minute. This is all Carly's fault, right, because it was all her lie. All you did was keep quiet. Well, why don't you do me a favor, bro, and break your silence. Tell me -- who's Michael's real father?
