• President John Ashton .
• Vice President Mike Mamer .
• Secretary-Treasurer Geri Kodey .
• Board Members Jeff Powles and Bob Gay. It
has been an honor to serve as your president during the past year. We
have seen the closing of Yankee Motorcycle Traders and the opening of
BMW of Las Vegas. After many years of stability we have also experienced
the demise of the Country Inn and our short stay at
the Hot Rod Grille with high hopes for a long future at
Henry's American Grill. These have been momentous gastronomical
events because after all, our second name is Eat More Often. We
are not done eating yet folks. The annual club Christmas party will be
held Saturday Dec. 11 at the club house of Dick and Bobbie Brady. The
club will provide turkey, and soft drinks. If you would like to
contribute a side dish to the feast please contact Yvonne Steele or
Peggy Hall. Last
year the club began a new holiday tradition. Instead of a gift exchange
among members at the Christmas party we took up a collection amongst
ourselves and donated to a needy family located by John Ashton. This
year we will make a similar donation which will be delivered to the
chosen family after our Sunday breakfast in the weeks before Christmas.
It was quite a moving experience last year to see the looks of
appreciation from the family as we arrived on our bikes to make the
presentation. The
European Motorcycle Owners had many other successes and good times over
the past year. Despite not having a dealership for most of the year to
direct new members our way we still managed to attract many great new
people to our membership rolls. We welcome our new friends and encourage
them to participate in our annual events as well as the impromptu Sunday
morning rides after breakfast. Jeff Powles has been especially good at
instigating off the cuff trips to Veyo, Utah for post breakfast pie and
coffee, only a short 300 mile round trip. Our
yearly campout at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon was quite enjoyable
in spite of a Saturday evening rainstorm that provided quite a lightning
show. EMO riders also made appearances at many rallies over the last
year. Bill Smith has provided an interesting account of his journey to
the national F650 Chain Gang Jail Break in Arkansas in this newsletter.
Other rallies we have attended include the MOA national rally in
Spokane, WA, the Beehive Beemers Panguitch rally and the season opening
Internet BMW Riders gathering in Death Valley in late January. Yes we do
support other brands rallies too. Last May Jim Williams, Larry Loyd and
Wayne Kodey motored to Prescott, AZ for the Moto Guzzi rally and in the
early autumn Wayne, Mike and Bonnie Mamer and Bert and Susi Fox appeared
at the first Guzzi gathering in Panguitch. The EMO riding season
actually begins the morning of New Years Day when those of us without
hangovers gather for the John Loyd Memorial Ride to the Crow Bar in
Shoshone, CA for breakfast and then on to the roads of Death Valley.
This began as a ride organized by the late John Loyd for his family and
friends. As all good rides do it grew and is now lead by John's son
Larry. We continue to be an active club that welcomes all motorcycle enthusiasts with an interest in European Motorcycles. Thanks again for your support over the past year, it has been a rewarding experience
